You will need: 1 Folder or organizer of your choice. 1 Notepad/Journal of your choice. For this swap you will collect journal entries or notes, bits, baubles, empherma and whatnots from an average (or not so average) week in your life. At the end of the week you will package it all up (however you like - you have creative control here), and send to your partner - who will be eagerly awaiting a glimpse into your world. You will start Day 1 with your organizer in hand. As your day takes you where it will, collect the bits left behind as well as items that represent where you have been. Use your notepad to record thoughts, insights or observations of the landscape and people around you. You may record your notes throughout the day or once in the evening, which ever is most comfortable for you. Each day will include notes or a journal entry in addition to what you have collected. Be creative. Here are some ideas: Ticket stubs Receipts Advertisemtents or postcards from places you visited A mixed CD of the music you listen to on your way to work each day Notes from friends/kids/whoever, if you don't want to part with the original - make a copy. The chocolate bar you enjoyed while waiting for the bus.. well not the actual chocolate bar of course! Purchase a duplicate so you have one for your partner. A coaster or mini menu from where you have lunch everyday A brochure from the place you receive massage or bodywork, a small bottle of something from where you get your hair done. And how about a reveiw? "That massage was horrible, she had long nails and the talked the whole time!" A small souvenier from the festival you visited over the weekend. A journal entry about the argument you and your S.O. had, or your daughter or son or best friend... Photos of your surroundings, or a specific place. Please remember: This swap is the grand tour of your life and how you live it, make it as interesting and detailed as you are! Your week should not fit into just a letter sized envelope. Unless you are a shut in, but even then I think you could round up enough to make it interesting! To me this is a high value swap, not because of monetary limits but because you should spend a good amount of effort and thought on this swap. With that said, I WILL read profiles and ban anyone who seems flakey, or even just fishy. I have a lot of time on my hands, and a good nose for these things, and I will be checking the forums for red flags also. So, to flakers, I say- "don't even bother!" (Also, I will drive you crazy with constant posting and PMs if your partner doesn't receive anything or hear from you - I am quite stubborn that way.) :) Set a budget of $5 or so at the begining of the week, that way you can get that candybar or souvenier for your partner. I would like this to be a 3-D kind of swap - not JUST paper receipts and ticket stubs. Newbies are welcome - with a very well filled profile and 3 (snail)mail swaps under their belt, with good ratings by their partner. For everyone else: No recent 1s or 3s, 4.5 required. Partners will be assigned Friday June 19th, you will have the weekend to collect your organizer and journal and the Week In Your Life begins on Monday the 22nd. Collect items for Monday - Sunday. Send Tuesday June 30th. Please be prompt and mail on time. DId I miss anything? I hope you all can have fun with this, if there are any questions please post below. Thanks! |
