Why would anyone want to swap reusable toilet paper??? !!! -Because toilet paper is expensive (my family spends about $20/month) -98% of toilet paper sold in America comes from virgin forests -We all like to wipe with something soft... what is softer than flannel? Reusable toilet paper (also known as "Family Wipes") is so easy to make! We will each have 3 partners. We will send 6 wipes to each partner. USA only for this swap. If you are overseas and would be interested email me and I will consider starting an overseas swap if there is enough interest! Edited July8 When making your wipes, it would be great to use different fabrics if possible... That way each of your partners will get a variety of wipes in the package you send off... Not necessary, but sure would make the packages more interesting! Directions to make a wipe: Using only pre-washed 100% cotton flannel (diaper flannel is best), cut two 9" squares. They can be the same color or contrasting colors. Place the squares right sides together and sew all the way around, using a 1/2" seam allowance and leaving a 2" space for turning. Clip corners diagonally so there will be no bulk when you turn wipe right side out. Turn wipe right side out. Use a pencil or wooden kabob to push out the corners. Press. Topstich all the way around wipe, 1/8 - 1/4 inch away from edge. Voila! You are done! Wasn't that easy? Now send 6 of these to each partner! For sample pictures, try going to etsy.com and type in "family wipes" For an article about toilet paper's impact on the environment: http://prorev.com/2009/02/dirty-secret-toilet-paper-as-eco.html Still need convincing: Here is a blog post by someone who was skeptical about using reusable toilet paper but tried it anyway! http://www.naturemoms.com/blog/2009/04/07/family-cloth-beyond-toilet-paper/ Participants should have ratings of 4 or higher. If your rating is lower or if you are a newbie, please message me and explain your situation so that I know you will follow through with your commitment! |
