Description:

For this swap each person will send one postcard to two people. The postcard needs to be handmade of fabric. There are lots of web sites with directions to make fabric or quilted postcards; but basically it is a 4 x 6 piece of embellished, decorated, dyed, or otherwise prettied fabric quilted onto a stabilizer with a back attached (usually muslin) that can be written on. The writing can be done on the computer with computer fabric or using a permanent marker.

A fabric postcard can be sent naked or in an envelope. If you choose to send it naked it will probably need to be hand canceled and will need first class postage because it is heavier than a regular postcard.

The designs on the postcards are sender's choice; but please make something nice that you would like to receive. Newbies are welcome with a profile. I will angel but if you're not going to make the postcard please don't sign up. I will ban suspicious people.

Please let me know if the directions are not clear.

This is a fabulous idea! Thank you for leaving so much time between the partner assign date & the send date because I love crazy quilting and embellishing the heck out of things, but I also am a mom of a toddler. I need that extra time, so I can put all the time and effort into my postcard to get it completed to my satisfaction. Also, even if you don't get a whole bunch of people, I would love even to do just a private swap. I am geeked!

Sounds fun! I love quilting stuff and sewing AND getting stuff in the mail! I'm going to put it on my watchlist for now, but I'll def be signing up!

Hi krycek and jennschales thanks for signing up. I think these are so fun and easy to make. I am excited that people actually want to participate.

agnes, you should use whatever postage works best for you. I would be inclined to put it in an envelope if I were mailing overseas. Hope you'll join our swap.

Hi. I just signed up and I am so excited to do this. I have never swapped anything before but it looks like it will be a lot of fun!

I'm really excited about this swap! Can the backing be made of paper? I love making machine sewn postcards and I've found that a fabric front and a paper back work really well for making postcards that can be sent "naked."

Stellar, Yes, you can make the back paper if that works best for you.

this sounds like a ton of fun to fill in the time between doll quilt swaps. I have ideas already!
