short and sweet swap! Tankas are a Japanese form of poetry that haiku poems originated from. Tankas are 31 syllable poems that are divided into 5 lines, the first and third lines containing five syllables and the third, fourth, and fifth lines containing 7 syllables (5-7-5-7-7). These poems were a type of collaborative poem where one person would write the first three lines and the second person would write the last two. For this swap, each participant will send one unfinished, handwritten on unlined paper, tanka-styled poem to three people for a total of three poems. Those poems will be finished and then sent back to the original authors. The poems should include notes, ideas, and/or reflections for the receivers to read after the completion of the poems. Please handwrite the poems of unlined paper and include notes, ideas, and/or reflections for the receivers to read after the completion of the poems. DATES: SIGN UP by July 21 SEND UNFINISHED POEMS by July 31 SEND COMPLETED POEMS by August 11 Please post or contact me with any questions you may have. |
