Description:

I've done this a few times, most recently for the Local Items PIF on the forums, and it is great fun. Here's what you do:

Collect found randomness, mostly paper probably, and mail it to your partner. By found randomness I mean the following types of things: a cute tag from your new jeans, theater programs, a tea bag of your favorite tea, a cool placemat, promotional postcards, clean scraps of paper you find while out on a walk, work freebies, junk mail with neat art on it, brochures from your town, pretty candy wrappers, a paper restaurant menu, a section of your local newspaper, a very inexpensive goodie from a craft fair, a notecard you found at a yard sale, that interesting thing somebody dropped, a recipe your aunt gave you, the pamphlets handed out during a parade, a cool small thing you received in a swap, and the stickers you get at the doctor for being a good patient (you still ask for them too, right? :)

Note: Found randomness is different than regular randomness. It is not a bunch of collage scraps or bits and bobs for craftmaking. Much of it could be used for craft making, but it was not created for that purpose.

Anything goes as long as it is not dirty or beaten up and your partner has not specified that he or she dislikes this kind of thing. The idea is to get a little glimpse of somebody else's life through their found randomness. About a three days' collection of randomness is good to send. I like to collect everything interesting I 'find' in three days and not send as much older stuff.

Please do not email asking what your partner would like. We are assuming people are signing up because they want to see your randomness paper world.

After a huge headache from the last swap I hosted, I have decided that this one can only be open to people with established feedback scores of 4.8 and at least two swaps. That's not fair to all new people, I know, since everyone is new sometimes, but since I am still dealing with the flakers from my swap a few months ago, I just can't bring myself to let anyone with no ratings, or lower than a 4.8 rating in this one. Feel free to create a newbie randomness swap if this catches on. :)

International since this is low cost and we want to see found randomness from all over the world! You will send randomness to two swap partners.

Have fun.

Oops. I said in the decription it was two swap partners, but in the fill in part said that it was one swap partner. I'm going to change the fill in part to two partners. Okay with everyone who has already joined?

If anyone who has already joined has a problem with sending to two people please let me know and I will change it back to one. Otherwise, randomness for two people will be the thing. :)

What a cool idea. Just this morning I found a really fun "postcard" in a magazine, tore it out and said, "I hope I can use that in a swap. One of my partners will see it. :)

this looks great, found randomness - what a great way to describe the everyday 'junk' that's too good to throw away and goes in the 'but I might need it - OK!!' box!! i'm in. :)

Changeling-I loved all the neat stuff in your package! I especially liked the Bye Bye Birdie playbill. My oldest was in her high school's Birdie musical, she portrayed Birdie's Mom. Thanks!
