In June of 2000, Bill Clinton deemed the month of June, "Gay and Lesbian Pride Month." The month was chosen to remember a riot in 1969 at the Stonewall Inn in Manhattan that is thought to be the beginning of the gay liberation movement in the United States. This month is meant to recognize the impact Gay, Lesbian and Transgender individuals have had on the world. For this swap, we will share one book with our partner of an openly homosexual American author (no guessing or outing!) or a book that would feature the LGBT Community in some way. I saw this title and had a good giggle, so I decided to use a photo of this book. However, feel free to choose a book you enjoyed and one you think your partner will, too. Be sure to check their profiles for some help. Any genre, any time period. You do NOT need to be gay, lesbian, queer, bisexual, transgender, etc. to join. All friends are welcome as long as you adhere to the guidelines of the swap. Nitty Gritty: USA only swap (National 'n all - postage should be nominal). No newbies and must have been rated for at least 10 package swaps. New and Gently Used books are appropriate and participants must have a rating of at least 4.9 with no 'no-sends' whatsoever. I can't stress this enough: ANY questions or comments, please feel free to ask! For more information on National Pride Month click here. |
