Description:

For this swap (why do I always start my swap descriptions like that? Which other swap would I be posting instructions for?). Ahem, for this swap you will be making your partner a Purl Frog. It's a lovely simple pattern that's a breeze to sew up and looks awesome in all kinds of fabrics.

The catch is you will need to try and choose a fabric your partner will love. Check their profile for likes in regards to colour or pattern and pick out something you think will float their boat.

Please note that contrary to the instructions at the pattern website, you will not be stuffing your frog Due to customs restrictions in many countries, food based stuffing could end badly. Finish your frog up to the point of stuffing but stop there. Your partner will fill and finish your frog when it arrives.

Please include enough of the thread you used to sew the frog to allow your partner to close the frog when they have stuffed it.

You also do not need to use pony beads for the eyes, you can use buttons or whatever else strikes you as awesome.

Let's play!

In order to frog it UP Purl style with us, you need:

  • At least 1 rated craft swap (ATCs are counted)
  • No unexplained no sends in the last 6 months
  • A 4.7 rating or better.

This is such a breezy pattern I'm happy to open this up to less experienced sewing types, but you have to pinky swear to send your very best work. No excuses.

Due to the crafty nature of the swap, unrated newbies will not be accepted. Sorry newbie :( I know it's mean of me.

For those who couldn't get the pattern link, here be it: http://www.purlbee.com/purl-frog/

I was so impressed with myself for thinking of this freebie pattern idea thing I even went NUTS and made a group, so if you're keen to play with freebie patterns, feel free to join the group "Free Pattern Creations" where this sort of swap will be the thing we do. For fun.

Aww... pretty please, let a newbie join? :) This sounds like so much fun! I filled out a nice thick profile, even, just like you asked :-p

I wonder if sending an empty frog could be an option with this swap to both bypass any potential customs problems and make shipping considerably more economical. Maybe?

threesweetpeas 04/12/2010 #

yes i am down if we can send an empty froggie, its much cheaper and mail from sweden is expensive...

i also applied for group membership, i have been wanting to make a purl frog for literally 2 years now!!!!

and i have several links with free patterns i wanna swap!

please say yes to an empty froggie!!

Watching for now, but I wouldn't mind sending an empty frog. Very cute idea!

Frogglin 04/12/2010 #

I thought of empty frogs, but wasn't sure what people would be happy with. I will go with majority rules! Editing now.

@mamabear I just noticed your comment! You should have a rating by closing date, so feel free to sign up.

Thanks for editing it to make the frog empty! This should be fun and I can't wait to get hopping! What? Bad Pun? Heh.

Frogglin 04/13/2010 #

maroyau 04/14/2010 #

Ty so much for changing it to an empty frog!!

HeideC 04/25/2010 #

I like the idea to send it empty, but it is making it hard to determine where to put the eyes! How is everyone dealing with that?

TerryF 04/25/2010 #

Just stuff the head temporarily so you can mark where you want the eyes to go.

Frogglin 04/25/2010 #

Exactly that! Thanks for answering @TerryF .

I've been watching this, but I can't find the foot to my sewing machine...I guess I can hand stitch it...Hope my partner won't mind!?!

Frogglin 04/27/2010 #
