Description:

In this swap we will make Origami Lucky Stars. They are fun and easy to make, and quite addicting. I recently ordered about 200 strips from Janetstore (hidden advertising, I know :P) and can't stop making them. :)

You make it with a strip of paper. A good starting size is about 30cm, or 1 foot long, and about 1cm wide, or about half an inch. Here are some instructions which I found quite useful (http://www.opane.com/luckystar.html), you can also enter "Lucky Star instructions" to google, there are some helpful pages and videos out there.

So I thought for this swap we will make 20 paper stars for our partner and send them. To make sending easier, you will work until step 9 (http://www.opane.com/luckystar.html), and send them flat. Your partner will press them to a solid shape. Like this the chance is smaller that they don't get damaged. IF you want to finish them, that is of course ok too, please just make sure they are protected well and won't get smashed on the way to your partner. :)

You don't need to use a pre-made kit, if you don't want to, you can also cut the strips yourself, but please do NOT use plain white paper, be creative, make them pretty. :)

I am all for newbies getting a chance to do some swaps - as I am still more or less new - but, please have a VERY well filled out profile (that means more than a 1-2 lines on each topic), otherwise, no joining, sorry. Everyone else, no 1 or 3's in the last three months, if so, please send me a pm and explain what happened. It's only my second swap, I want it to go well. Everyone else 4,75, thanks :) I reserve the right to remove anyone I find fishy or who does not match my description.

You will have one partner, the swap is international.

Ideas, questions? ask me! :)

Can I put them into their 3D shape if I'm sending them in a good, solid container? Or is part of this swap that our partner gets to shape them?

If you can make sure that they arrive in perfect condition, please go ahead and finish them, of course :) I edited the description.

I love making these, I design my own paper for them as well! I think sending them flat is a good idea to not only ensure they arrive safely but to save on the shipping costs of mailing them in a container (Canada Post charges an arm and leg for "odd sized" lettermail and parcels to go out of the country). Of course I would love to put them in a little box and send them fully made if my wallet allows :)
