Description:

for those who are not sure what a matchbox shrine is there are links in the group forum to show you what they are and how to make them. or you can always google it. :)

this will be 1 partner / 1 matchbox shrine. you will make a matchbox shrine paying homage to your favorite city, state or country using a 32ct. matchbox. it can be where you live, a place you visited, or a place you want to visit... the choice is yours! use elements and themes based on that location of your choice. (birds, foods, main attractions, flowers, currency, stamps, colors, etc. whatever you want, go wild!)

include a letter to your partner about why you chose this particular area for your shrine. if you visited there, share your experience. if you live there, why do you love it so much? if you never been there but want to go, what's your attraction to it? you get the idea...

the usual 411:

  • 1 partner / 1 matchbox

  • international

  • no newbies for this swap, HOWEVER i will make a newbie friendly one if there is enough interest generated (post below if you want a newbie swap of the same theme)

  • must have done 5 matchbox and type 3 swaps completed & rated to sign up

  • no recent 1s or 3s as in the last 2 months (unless you PM me and explain first before signing up)

  • DO NOT FLAKE although i don't think i should have to say this, you'd be surprised. and i will angel this for those who do get flaked but that won't happen, will it? :)

I checked out the shrine site. I have done quite a few matchboxes. My question is can we decorate the bottom of the box show it is still a shrine, but still fill it with matchbox goodies. From what I am looking at it looks like the shrines are just themed base, and everything is attached to the box? I just don't want to send one thing if folks are expecting something different. Thanks!! I am excited about the theme.

hmmmm good question. the way i had thought shrines are is using the whole matchbox to somehow depict whatever the theme is but it's not like a regular matchbox where it's stuffed with goodies. did you type "matchbox shrine" into google, or even flickr? most of them use the inside part of the matchbox to depict the shrine. i guess if you want to design a shrine where it opens up and include items inside it you could, but the empty matchbox has to look like those shared as examples in the group forum. here are a couple more ideas of what a matchbox shrine looks like.
