Hello Card Makers!!

This is an open theme card International swap, just like the USA ONLY one last month.

You will make (2) two cards for each of your (2) two partners. The theme is your choice; some examples are Happy Birthday, Fathers Day, Anniversary, Graduate, Get Well, Thanks, etc. Even Christmas cards are okay, whatever you are inclined to make at this time. Be sure to check your partners profile for preferences like color, religion and so on.

Use quality materials to construct your cards with at least two layers of cardstock and NO STICKERS, “just a meaningless, thoughtless flat stickers” (Teacher reward type for example), is what is meant by “no stickers”. Embellishments are preferred but not required.

Be sure to include a short note to your partner explaining how you came up with this particular card. Swap is open to Newbie’s.

*Don't join this swap if you have had a #1 rating in the last 6 months. If for some reason you cannot meet the requirements of this swap PM me and we will work it out. *

Check out www.cleanandsimplestamping.blogspot.com for some great ideas and sketches.

Hope you will join us. If this swap works out my BFF will host another in July.

Remenber to Rate your partners & coordinator after your cards arrive.

Happy Card making!! cj & nlgrudis

Why can't you use stickers? I often use those dimensional stickers or put stickers on card and cut around with foam underneath to make the image dimensional. Do you mean just a meaningless, thoughtless flat sticker on a bit of card?

that is a good question about stickers. last swap i wanted to make some cards with gold peel-offs (like a flower outline, in gold, in this case), and color them in, but i was afraid of being marked down for stickers... i can make cards just as well without stickers, but sometimes they can add the perfect accent...

dreamerkins 06/ 5/2010 #

o, new question... does the added layer of cardstock need to be on the front? or can it be in the middle of the card? (i've recently tried a type of pop up card with flowers popping up in the center. i think adding cardstock to the front might make the card too bulky for the theme....) (and no, i don't have to send that particular card... i just want to know if i can :D ).

Dang about stickers. I too use a lot of the dimensional stickers on my cards or add a sticky dot on the back of chipboard shapes. Does that make it a sticker? I will just watch this one until I get an answer about "stickers". I'm not sure what you mean by 2 layers of cardstock either. Do you fold the cardstock in 4? Or do you just put 2 layers on the front of the card? Some of the embellishments, ie gems, are actually stickers - does that disqualify them as embellisments?

Net3811 said it best “just a meaningless, thoughtless flat sticker” (Teacher reward type for example), is what is meant by “no stickers”. Sticky dots on the back of an embellishment are not a sticker, it’s still an embellishment. As for the added cardstock, just don't take one piece fold it in half, slap a sticker or stamp an image on it and say "Done". Pop ups are great, anything with dimension goes! Be creative & have fun "Accessorize", don’t stress about it. When you are finished and it looks like something you would like to receive, you’re done! I hope this clears things up for you all, thanks for your questions.

Oh, CJ thanks I made that one for a swap awhile back.

By the way everyone, cards left blank inside are ok too!

MistyPup50 06/ 5/2010 #

Thank you @nlgrudis for getting back to us so quick. I'm in and so relieved that I can use "fun" stickers. I don't like the flat ones either - I use them up on the outside of envelopes or give them to the kids to be creative with. I plan to leave my cards blank inside and out so that my swap partner can stamp them with whatever suits them.

I have to join after seeing your amazing website! Thanks for the great resources!!!!

If you haven't sent yet, please, please notice the middle of the swap description... it says to include a note explaining how you came up with those cards... this has been going unnoticed in both these swaps... not a huge thing, but also such a minor thing to potentially be rated down for...

@ dreamerkins, Good point! Even I forgot on the USA swap! Wrote it out, but never put it in the envie. Thanks for bringing this up.
