skirt swap :)

this has to be fun if you like wearing skirts :p this is the perfect time if year for skirts too! we will be buying one skirt! you can make the skirt if you are really, really good at it and only if you can make clothes that look professional and something someone would pay money for because i don't want people receiving clothes that will come apart in public!

swap requirements:

  1. in the comments below, let us know your size (you can message your partner with this info when assigned if you would rather not share with everyone, but please do this promptly or it isn't fair on your partner!), also not down any fabrics you really don't like, colours you hate or that don't suit you, lengths you can't wear (like mini) or patterns you don't like (such as stripes). all this info is important but please don't put a detailed description of a particular skirt you want because you may as well just go out and buy that for yourself!

  2. buy a skirt (or make one if you are excellent at it). the skirt must fit the requirements of your partner, so you cannot buy it until partners are assigned! make sure it is the right size.

  3. wrap the skirt in nice paper to make it special

  4. do NOT send a second hand skirt or something faulty!

  5. this is international!

  6. there is no price limit because it depends on if you buy the skirt from a shop, sale, market, ebay, website, etc

  7. i'm giving a month to shop for your skirt, which should be plenty!

  8. please take note of international delivery times, postal strikes (uk) etc when eagerly waiting for your skirt to arrive

rules:

  1. you must have a rating of 4.8 with no recent no-sends! please only 1 no-send in your whole history! if you have any 3s please contact me. i will ban you if i don't like the look of your profile. 5+ hearts is also preferred. i want everyone to get their skirts! :)

  2. sorry but no newbies! :/ feel free to join up if you think you can meet the requirements by the sign-up deadline. if you do not meet them, i will ban you at this time.

  3. make sure you click the sent button when you've mailed your skirt and please send by airmail if international! a skirt shouldn't be heavy to send :)

  4. i may be able to angel if necessary (hopefully not) but if i can't, i will help you find an angel :p

  5. i will not ban anybody until the sign-up date, so please don't worry if you see questionable swappers in the list! :)

Yay! I love skirts! I'm a U.S. small (size 3-5) and I DON'T like long skirts! I prefer the "school girl" looking skirts! lol I'm sure they have a name--they're pleated, usually plaid, and...rather short. Ha! But, any skirt is fine, just please not long.

jay 08/13/2007 #

i'm a uk size 8, which i think is a us size 4 - size "small" is usually fine, or a wraparound/elastic waist! :) i'm not too keen on white or denim but apart from that, i'm easy! :)

ollieotson 08/13/2007 #

oh i dont have a rating of 4.8 :( but i will make it to this swap i think, im waiting for a lot of ratings!

jay 08/14/2007 #

feel free to sign up now anyway and i will look at your rating again on the sign-up deadline! :)

Can I buy the skirt in a second hand store? Some clothes looks like new! I always buy my skirts there...

jay 08/15/2007 #

i guess if the skirt looked really brand new, then yes. i have bought many second hand clothes for myself but you need to be extra careful when buying for somebody else

Phoenyx 08/17/2007 #

I love long, full skirts!
Broomstick style please (that is.. full elastic waitband, no buttons, no zippers)
2x, 3x, 4x.. I like to have the extra room to breathe and it makes the skirt fuller, as well.

No wool.. I cannot stand the feel of it!

Any floral, exotic, Indian, Native, African, or gypsy style print is fine.. as are (dark) solid colors.
Please no polka dots, "cutesy", or "baby" prints.

Important: I am highly allergic to cats. If you live in a cat filled environment, please do not bring the skirt around your cats, as hiar, oil, and dander tend to cling to fabrics.

Thank you.

Can big women sign up to? (I'm a 26/28 AND love skirts!)

jay 08/21/2007 #

any size lady (or men that wear skirts!) can sign up! :) if your partner is having trouble, they can always message you and ask for advice! :)

Sooty2Shoes 08/22/2007 #

Ok, I'm going to give it a try. =]

I'm a woman's size US 26/28 (3XL if there's an elastic band. 2XL if it's super stretchy)

I dislike the feel of jean, velvet, satin, polyester.. Along those lines. Nothing shiney, please. =]

I love cutesy stuff though (bright, bold colors are my best friend)! Any length (but I prefer knee length).

Thanks! =]

jay 08/22/2007 #

thank you for signing up! :)

Phoenyx 08/22/2007 #

I am Znow White's size... 26/28.. Gotta love those 3x skirts!

Phoenyx,

Rock on!

Sweet. I'm US size 8. I prefer mid thigh to knee length (I'm a little short, so long skirts just tend to drag...). Can't go wrong with an a-line, but I'm cool with anything other than a bubble skirt. I don't mind second-hand as long as it looks clean. =]

birdbeth 09/ 7/2007 #

i'm a u.s. size 4 and please no real silk - also no leather (i'm vegetarian). also nothing super short, i usually wear kind of knee length a-line styles but i'm open to other styles. i love plaid!

gck 09/25/2007 #

This sounds like fun! I'm usually a US size 8 or between M and L. I usually wear things that sit below the waist because I don't have a waist, so things that fit at the waist screw up sizing. My partner is welcome to message me for measurements if that makes things easier. I'm 5'4 and I like skirts that are around knee length.

I'm usually a pretty casual, unornate dresser, but I do like pretty things that will fit in the rest of my wardrobe. Colors I'm almost always seen wearing: navy blue, black, gray, maroon, tan. You don't have to buy something in those colors, but try and make it something that will match at least one of them. :) I also have a ton of shirts from Threadless.com... that's kind of my style.

  • my style is urban / anthropologie / forever 21, etc!
