Heres something challenging and cute that we can all have fun with :] For this swap you have to find a super tiny journal which is 4x2.5 inches, the size of a Moleskine Volant or smaller. Please use your judgement and dont send a microscopic journal. I have seen super tiny journals by the brand paperchase and by other brands at borders or barnes and nobles, which is why I didnt want to make it moleskine specific, if you find a really tiny one you like use it :] As in all art journals, you will need to put in a lot of effort. These are smaller pages, yes, but that doesnt mean that you putting a sticker that fits on the whole page makes it done! Try to experiment with working on a small scale, doing everything the same. Paint it, drip it, splatter it, emboss it, fold it, glue into it, add pockets, photos, write your thoughts, about your favorite band or memory, quote it, rhinestone it, doodle it, sketch or draw in it, carry it with you, etc!!

You must do something on every page of it, even if a few are very simple. Please have at least 56 pages (number in a moleskine volant) done, this is the minimum, but if your journal is more please dont leave the rest blank, decorate them too or at least paint them simple. Im so excited about this one, I hope you are too! Anyone from our group is welcome in.

***NOTE**** If you are using a moleskine volant with perforated pages, please reinforce them somehow so that the pages aren't flimsy and on the verge of falling out!...

must the journal be store bought?

mousepoo 06/22/2010 #

No of course not! As long as it meets the swap requirements, you can always make the journal instead of buying it.

The great thing about these little moleskin volant books, is that they have about 30 to 40 pages, front and back, and they are thin. So, it's so easy and cheap to mail. REgular envelope enforced with packing tape will do fine!

Sorry for my bad english but what do you mean by : ''....working on a small scale, doing everything the same'' Do make every page kind of similar in style, color, medium, etc ? If I cant find a store bought mini journal do we all agree that it is O.K to make our own handbound one ! Thanks!

Yes, you may make your own, thats a plus! As long as it has at least 56 pages or more, im going to make that the minimum because moleskine volants have that many pages..

And when I said work on a small scale but do everything the same, I guess I mean that even though its small you should still be detailed with it :] I just said that to make sure that the creative factor isnt lost doing tiny pages :]

Yay I am in !

Is that 56 pages front and back, meaning 112 sides?

mousepoo 07/ 6/2010 #

The plain page volant, had 28 single pages, so... 54 sides.

mousepoo 07/ 6/2010 #

56 if you count the front and back inside jackets.

I always get confused about what the word "page" means :) I keep thinking that every sheet of paper in a book is one page, even though I really know that every side of every sheet is one page, the front is one page and the back of the same sheet is another page.

So if you have a journal with 28 sheets in it, and you fill both the front and back of each sheet, then you will have done the minimum 56 pages (because 28x2 = 56), yay!

Now my follow-up question is this: If I have a journal with 56 sheets and only fill the front of each sheet (as happens to be my preference), I will also have done 56 pages, but would that type of page-skipping debauchery be allowed in this swap?

I would say that is okay.. ive never heard of anyone doing that but if thats your style then its ok :]
