Description:

I'm trying something new so here goes! The theme of this Whimsey Jar is a Tea Cup and anything having to do with a teacup-a tea party, fancy sandwiches, petit fours, an invitation, a handmade menu, hats, flowers! Use your imaginations! Put the tea cup and/or saucer INSIDE the jar, though you may have to use a wide mouth jar! Or send it separately! That would surely get you hearts! Think Country French, Shabby Chic, lace, hearts and romance! Show me what you're made of! Let's use glass for this one-16 to 64 oz, Sender's Choice!

Everyone is welcome, except unexplained 1's or 3's! Open to USA/Canada! Sorry! I'm trying to keep postage costs down! anyone is welcome to do an international version!

I hope at least one other person joins! I want to do this! I love Whimsey Jars!

I so want to do this swap! I am signed up for too many at the moment but I love this idea. Nervous about sending a glass jar though. Do they really arrive safely in the mail????? Looking forward to it!

Is the tea cup/saucer a requirement for the package or just a suggested extra?

kimmer 07/ 9/2010 #

is GLASS jar a requirement?

im worried about sending a glass jar with teacup etc inside. I know i can package securely with plastic jar - and it also will keep shipping cost down so i can spend more on swap.

sorry to cause a bother - but of all the whimsy jars ive seen - this is the one that makes my heart jump! Id love to participate

Wow nice swap. I've never sent a whimsey jar, how much is postage on average?

LADYHIGHTOWER 07/ 9/2010 #

Ok, my friends! Glass is required on this one! It just sparkles, especially if you have glittery items in the jar! I send glass jars exclusively. I just don't like plastic! It's not romantic! I think I lived another life PRE-PLASTIC! The teacup IS a requirement, but the saucer isn't. Though, please, send both if you'd like! Karen, the glass jars really do arrive safely! The items inside tend to act as a buffer. Then using kraft paper, bubble wrap, peanuts, etc, etc. helps tremendously! I even used fabric, vintage or otherwise, that fits the theme. It is not a requirement to put the tea cup inside the jar, but you'll need to include one in your package! I am not specifying the size of the teacup! There are many gorgeous miniatures out there! But don't use those teeny-tiny doll teacups, please. Postage really depends on how you send it and if you're sending to Canada it may be higher! Keep those questions coming! Blessings to you all!

I just sent out a Whimsey Jar for another swap and Parcel Post was $8.09 and Priority was $9.22.

kimmer 07/10/2010 #

Ok thats not bad postage. can i ask you how big your jar was? Of all the whimseys this one appeals the most- LOVE tea!!

as to living a life preplastic - i think thats a grand time to have lived in. and i must admit- to have a whimsey jar that i would keep and display, i would want glass - you are right about that!

oooh glittery items? i maybe HAVE to do this!

I used a 16 oz jar, but I'm thinking for this I may use a 32oz! I just love displaying these Whimsey jars. I don't even like taking anything out of them! Blessings!

LADYHIGHTOWER 07/11/2010 #

Re my last comment! I goofed! Actually used a 32 oz!
