Description:

For this swap we will have two partners and we will make each partner a 12 x 12 inch quilt block with the pattern for this month. Make sure you leave a quarter inch seam all the way around, so the square actually ends up being 12.5 x 12.5 inches.

This month's pattern is Aunt Dinah.

Here is the pattern.

This pattern is exact for the size and dimensions, so no changing is necessary. There are triangles involved, so please take your time sewing and be sure to square up your patches.

August's color is Peridot. Use any combination of white or cream and any shade of light green. No novelties or solids please.

QBOTM GUIDELINES

•If you join the QBOTM, you don't have to stay in it for each round. It's not a requirement that you join each month.

•Make sure the fabrics are all 100% cotton quilt fabrics and blocks are 12.5 by 12.5 inches when finished. Take care in sewing the scant 1/4"seams.

•If you flake on any of these swaps you will be banned from future QBOTM swaps and I will report you to the group founder. We don't want swappers like that in this group.

Please ask any and all questions.

Did anyone else have trouble using the linked pattern for making this block? I followed it closely, but both of mine came out all wonky--I'm doing them over!

I did them over very carefully and still had to cut out the white bits twice--it's just a jinxy block. The new ones came out right this time though. Whew!

It could be the white fabrics are stretchier along the grain than the colored fabrics. When you go to sew them, keep the white parts on the bottom so the ffed dogs pull them in evenly while the presser foot is not holding back the stiffer colored fabric. For this block, I had to square up the pieces after sewing each section.
