EDIT: I lowered the number of partners to ONE partner from two. So if you have one chicken PC, please sign up!

September is National Chicken month in the United States, so I thought it would be fun to do a postcard swap based on this common yet comical bird.

Once you start looking around there are more chicken postcards than you would think, so sign up and see what you can find out there!

To complete this swap you need to send one postcard to one partner showing an image of a live or a cooked chicken. They need to be store bought for this one, as part of the point is to either find a PC that's all about chickens or to take the time to notice the chickens that show up in places you might not expect (on the table in a dining scene, in the background in an old black and white photograph, on a billboard, etc.). If your chicken image is a small part of a larger scene then you may need to point it out to your partner in order to get your five rating.

There are 10 days between the sign up deadline and the send deadline, so if you do not already have a chicken postcard then you have time to find one.

To recap: you need to send one postcard to one partner. It just needs to have a chicken on there somewhere ... large or small, whatever works.

Partners, if you get a card with a chicken on it that was sent by the send deadline then please rate a five. This is not the swap to argue over whether you liked your chicken ... for example, if you are a real chicken expert and you prefer certain breeds of chickens, please just be happy if you get a chicken in your mailbox and don't argue about feather quality :).

Postcards should be sent naked unless partners arrange otherwise through private messages.

Newbies are welcome for this one. Hopefully folks won't be flakers (sigh!) but if you do get flaked on let me know and I will angel send a chicken postcard to you.

Finally, this is my first time to host so if I left something out or things are unclear please do not hesitate to ask!

Since I will be angeling for folks who don't get their chicken cards, I went ahead and made this swap newbie friendly.

Since you express a desire for obscure chickens, are postcards that feature chickens or baby chicks like in a farm yard prohibited?

Onyx 08/30/2010 #

Oh there's no need for the chickens to be obscure ... those are great chickens too! Any chicken will work really :). The examples were more for folks who might be thinking "I don't have any chickens!" But if you have a decent postcard collection you probably have at least a chicken or two in your stack, you just may have to look a little more closely.

That's so funny that I was looking at this swap while uploading my postcards available for trades/swaps and I looked at my last two uploaded postcards. There I found a chicken postcard! Too bad I only have one! :)

Aw man ... actually given the fact that only one other person has signed up, I think I am going to drop it down to one partner. Hopefully the other person won't mind. If anyone who is reading this wants to swap chicken postcards, just holler at me in a PM.

Limited to alive chickens, right? I mean, no chicken on a plate?

MorahLaura 09/ 4/2010 #

Yes! I didn't sign up because I only have 1 chicken pc. You got me to sign up! Woohoo! ;) PS I love chickens.

Chicken on a plate is totally fine, and thanks to everybody who signed up! I will be assigning partners in the next few minutes. If you have any questions, or you need me to angel your card, just let me know. Have fun & happy swapping!
