Finding matching fabrics can be half the fun of creating a project, but sometimes it can be hard to find just the right fabric to coordinate. It's also interesting to see how different people match fabrics that we would never think to pair up. For part 1 of this swap, you will send your partner a swatch (minimum 5" or 12.5 cm square) of fabric in your stash that has been waiting to be used. This is the easy part and must be mailed by January 17. If you have something specific in mind that you want to use the fabric for, you should include a note with the swatch. For example, last time my partner advised that she wanted the matching fabric to make quilt blocks, so I knew that a large print would not have worked. If there is no note with the swatch you receive, youl have carte blanche! For part 2 of this swap, you will search high and low in your stash and/or local fabric stores to find a fabric that you think is the perfect complement to your partner's fabric swatch. When you find the ideal match, you will send your partner half a yard or 45 cm so they can create something amazing! This must be mailed by March 7. (NOTE: Please return the swatch with the matching fabric. I didn't ask for mine back last time and had a heck of a time remembering which fabric I had sent. lol) For this to work you will need to send the sample swatch to the partner who is actually supposed to be sending TO YOU so you will be able to rate them when they send you back your half yard of matching fabric. After assigning partners, I will send everyone their partner's mailing info. I think this should give everyone enough time but if you think we need longer for the second part, please pme me to discuss. Thx. Please note that missing the first deadline could result in being rated a 3. No solids are allowed, and all fabric must be be 100% quilting cotton. This is open to all NFS members in good standing but please see my profile for how I screen participants. Any questions, please pm me. Have fun! |
