Description:

How do you cure those post-holiday blues? Just a little pre-planning and you'll have a delightful little package to open in the new year!

For this swap, you are invited to generously fill a 9 x 12 envelope with children's lit-themed paper goodies. Please include at least 5 items from the following list, all themed to the children's/YA books of your choice:

  • stationery: cards, postcards, envelopes, notepads, etc.
  • a set of bookplates
  • bookmarks
  • a recipe
  • a favorite children's poem
  • 2011 calendar
  • a favorite book to share with your partner
  • set of vintage pages
  • envelope of illustrated cut-outs
  • envelope of rubber-stamped images
  • one sheet of address labels
  • a set of swap cards
  • a set of tags
  • children's poem written by you
  • set of faux stamps or real children's lit postage stamps
  • 1 sheet of stickers
  • zine / booklet
  • a set of library card pockets
  • paper dolls
  • other items inspired by books you love! Please include additional suggestions in the comments below if you think of any.

For the purposes of this swap, let's say that four of any item = one set. Please note that if you have singles of stationery sheets, etc, you are free to include them as "extras," but you must have at least 5 qualifying items or sets in your package.

Store-bought, clean-thrifted, and vintage items are all welcome, and handmade items are especially encouraged! This is meant to be a lightweight, inexpensive, no-stress swap, so the items can be based on a mixture of any type of children's books and are sender's choice. It's always nice to check your partner's profile for likes and dislikes, however, so if you haven't already included a few favorite authors in your profile, now is a great time to do it!

The guidelines for this swap are for paper goods, but you may certainly include additional non-paper items if you wish. Please be generous and thoughtful in your selection...a certain amount of de-stash is fine, but as with all HAW swaps, as much of the pleasure should be in the creating as well as in the receiving. If necessary, please remember to reinforce your envelope for shipping as well.

The pretty Alice in Wonderland tags pictured are from our own @Hollyhox in our group Flickr pool!

Hello! Any chance you might consider extending the send by date another week? It can be a little crazy around the holidays/end of the year. Thanks!

thehappyhoneybee 11/24/2010 #

Sure, consider it done! Extended sign up/send by dates by one additional week. :)

A cute idea! How many are considered a "set" for this swap? How about Paperdolls?

@homeandheart I LOVE the idea of paper dolls--adding to the list! And let's say four of any one item will be considered a set.

Great ideas and questions, thank you. :)

Hi everyone--just waiting a bit on assigning partners while I look into something. I'll extend the "send by" date if need be, so thanks for your patience.
