@user6937 - Walmart and Michaels are a little far away from me here in Australia !

@auntjudy - If we are not to use designer cotton yarns, what do we use ? I found some cotton yarn.. it is rough and thin but knits up nicely..and the only colour I could get was pink... LOL..

I've got thinner cotton as well. I already made some dishcloths with this cotton in before swaps and got really thick cottons ones back. I've been on the search here for thicker cotton, but the only yarn shop in town only sells the thin kind and that's even a glossy kind. I'm already far with my dishcloth for this swap and I'm loving the pattern I'm doing. I think I'll make one for myself aswell :-)

I have both kinds-thick and thin both are very nice. Different brands work up different. I got my mom some at JoAnn's that much thinner than the Peach and Cream and the other brand. I am not sure but the one I got my mom was a big ball of the stuff and she has made my sister 6 dishcloths and still has a 1/2 ball left over.

I like the thinner ones for the soft pretty special feel to them and the thicker ones for everyday use. I use the thicker ones in place of paper towel. They wash up really well and even if they get a little bleach on them they do not loose the color, and can be washed over and over without them looking like it. The thinner yarn also make good napkins. I cannot help it -I remember the first Earth Day in the 70's and I like to keep as much out of land fills as I can.

So use what you have/can fine what you like. To the lady that can only fine pink that okay too as there are many pretty non-traditional Christmas things out there.

You can always double up thinner yarn...
