Description:

ADDED - Quick Note: I understand not wanting to part with the original copy- since it is a lot of work to part with. If you are to scan the pages and then print them off in color, so it is almost like the original (if the original is in color), that should be just fine. I feel it should be fine. If you receive a print of the original- do not be angry. I am allowing this. I know some people like to keep their original works of art but if you do send out a copy- Scan the pages BEFORE you bind them. They will be much easier to scan then. A nice cover, some bobbles here and there- Try to make it as nice as possible. If you do want to do a NICE copy of the original- I am all for it. The more I think of this, the better it sounds. I do suggest you keep your originals if you want to. Just... make the copy nice. That's all I ask of you. A nice copy.

I, personally, have this affection for writing, art, and fairy tales. As I thought about this I also pondered what would an edited fairy tale zine be like? Here I am now, setting up a swap for an edited fairy tale zine.

Here are the specifications for the zine:

The page size is the average white letter paper used for printing folded in half ("hamburger style"). Each piece of paper used is four pages, if front and back is used. (8.5 x 11)

Stories should be original takes on classic fairy tales we all (may or may not) know and love.

Book should be AT LEAST 15 pages long (when it comes to the stories and pictures) and should include a table of contents page, about the author page, and cover (which are not included in the 15 pages).

Each story should be around (or over) a paragraph long and accompanied by art. Original artwork is greatly appreciated.

Stories that could be included (for example) are Little Red Riding Hood, Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Thumbelina, etc. Stories are not limited to this list.

You will only be making one book for one partner. Much effort should be put into this book. Binding it yourself would make the item much more memorable and enjoyable for the person receiving it. Total newbies are not welcome unless they are willing to somehow prove they will not flake.

No flaking.

If someone is to flake, I will angel. I wouldn't mind some other willing people to be angels for those "what if" situations.

If you are going to join you have a month to finish your zine please put a lot of effort towards it and make this swap be a fun, interesting swap for everyone involved! This is my first time making a swap, please help me make it a good one!

I would love to join this swap, even though I'm not a very experienced artist, I love Alice in Wonderland, and love to be creative. But if I am going to do a zine (which I have never done before) can I do it my way, I mean Alice-inspired and with the original story, but with illustrations with my own touch? (I'm in a dark period right now and like to doodle, draw and paint things in just black and white.) I have a little girl that I always draw, whith black long hair that cover her face, a white dress and she really reminds me of the girl in The ring, but she is in all my paintings for some reason. So my question is, can I make her as Alice, and basically do a wonderland from her eyes? Of course I will keep the original story, but it will be in black and white and very different. I know I am a newbie, but hope to get a rating this week or the next, but I will also have some time to decide if I am going to join the swap, and time for making the zine. So do you think it's ok, that I do my own Alice? I will put effort on this zine, I promise!

Hope to hear from you soon!

Best wishes, Emily
