Description:

While I adore my digital camera, I've also been re-visiting the use of analog cameras. The anticipation of waiting for the results of a print is something we no longer get from the immediacy of scrolling through digital images.

This swap is for other fellow "analog photographers" -- people who use the Lomo line of cameras, pinhole cameras, polaroids and other types of analog cameras.

You will have one (1) partner in total and you will send your partner one (1) print photograph.

There is no set theme -- be creative! Feel free to add a note explaining what type of camera you used and how you achieved the shot.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

The small print: (i) this is an international swap; (ii) newbies more than welcome; (iii) all others, please have a rating of at least 4.5. If you have concerns with the requirements, please touch base with me and I am sure we can work something out.

By analog, do you mean any film camera, including a regular 35mm? Cyn

Ystarr 10/24/2007 #

That's right, twobluecrows. While I'm personally partial to my lomo, all photographs taken with analog equipment are welcome!

I love my Lomo, and I've been craving a Polaroid (maybe this is my excuse to get one)! I'm in!

Here's a question for you, Ystarr.... I have my photo negatives developed & digitized, then I decide which images I'd like to print (I do this because it's cheaper & easier). So although I take the pictures with old-fashioned film, there is a digital stage in the printing of them. Is that okay, or is that against the spirit of the swap? I thought I should ask to be sure. And don't feel bad about saying, "No, it's not okay; this swap is for completely non-digital photography." It's your swap & you get to say what goes & what doesn't; I just wanted to see if I'm on the same page or not. Thanks!

Dear beckra -- many thanks for your thoughtful query. I am completely ok with your having a digital stage in the printing of your otherwise analog photography process. I am interesting in getting together a group of swappers who still use analog cameras, and the more the better! I hope you're developing some interesting shots. Best, Ystarr

Thanks for your quick response, Ystarr!

Is it okay if I send my photo as a postcard? Just wanting to save on postage

Ystarr 11/13/2007 #

Hi Teresa -- If that will save you postage, that is fine. To the extent possible, however, please ensure that the developed photo stays intact (i.e., it will not get affected during the mailing process). Happy swapping and thanks for joining the swap! Best, Ystarr

I love my coloursplash! <3

I can't wait to see what my Rollei SLR 6x6 has in store for me--I just got back from a vacation to Big Bend National Park. Hopefully I will have a nice b&w or color photo for someone. Analog all the way, including optical enlargements . . .
