Size wise the brooch should be around 2 to 3 inches depending on the design. Nothing tiny but not overpowering either.

For that pseudo-Victorian mechanical steampunk look think aged metals, old clock parts, cogs, metal spinners, coiled wire, filigree findings, lockets and frames and unusual cabochons etc.

Although this is senders choice please look at your partners profile and try and take your partners dislikes into account as there is no point in making something they will hate and never wear.
