Omamori for luck, health and no headache!

Okay, I'm hosting with a caveat! I cannot sew, so my partner has a choice: an omamori from a shrine, or one made of paper by me! =D (Pattie puts her feet up on the desk as she can guess how this will go. ;-)

In my previous post, I drew your attention to this blog, and her directions for creating an omamori.

Here's what Wiki has to say on the subject.

We probably have dozens of these around the house, and while they're "old" (ideally you keep them until either New Year's or until what you needed it for has passed, like for a healthy delivery or an exam) we hang onto them because they're pretty. In the kitchen I have a tiny shrine shaped one, for studying. Behind me are a few of the tag shaped ones (from Oinarisama shrines) and one that's like a puffy little pillow which came with the tag: No Headache. ^ __ ^ (It doesn't work. I've tried.) (Oh the heck with it, lemme take pictures! lol@me)

From the top, the black one that's on edge I bought at Toranoana and is from the anime Nura: Rise Of The Yokai Clan. No luck, health or anything going on there! lol Just pure capitalism!

On top of it is a small orange one from...I have no idea, but it says it's for a happy relation. (That one seems to be working. ;)

The larger, orange one below that is from the Tokyo branch of Toyokawa Inari Jinja. If you look closely...can you look closely??? you'll see two sigils, one is the flaming, kitsune wishing jewel, the other is a wreath of harvested rice stalks for Oinarisama. This is the shrine/temple where we make our annual 'first shrine visit' (hatsumode) for me (the wife favors the Benten shrine below Tokyo Tower for her hatsumode.)

The last one is also from Toyokawa and is of Inari Daimyojin (the Buddhist form of Oinarisama). It's basically a metal plaque of the Godddess.

So, hopefully you can see that omamori come in many different shapes, sizes, wishes and causes.
