Let's use our hands to make a heart.... For this swap you will have 1 partner. To that partner you will send a heart (or series of hearts) that you have hand-embroidered on a single piece of fabric. Don't make the fabric into anything--your partner may want to incorporate it into a quilt or work it into another project. I like flat-envelope swaps, so you can make it small enough to fit inside a standard envelope that can be mailed with a single stamp. I don't want to set a hard-and-fast measurement for size, but card-sized envelopes are often 5 x 7 inches, so you can think along those lines. Though red and pink are traditional colors for hearts, any color goes for this swap! All styles and experience levels are welcome. You can incorporate other imagery into your embroidered piece as well, if you want; just make sure that a heart or hearts are promiment. Other details: 1) No newbies for this one (sorry), but there's still time to get some ratings before sign-ups close. 2) Swappers with a rating below 4.85 will be dropped before partners are assigned. 3) To honor the boundlessness of good-will and needlework, this is an international swap! I don't have much experience with embrodiery, but I can't wait to give it a try! Thanks for making it open to all levels. Is this to be done on muslin? Or should we pick a backround piece of fabric? Can it be on a pillowcase? Or is that too big?

Hello, kgeslab! I wouldn't use a pillowcase because the embroidery should be on a small piece of fabric that your partner can then incorporate into something else if they'd like (like a quilt). Plain muslin and cotton fabrics seem to work well for embroidery swaps, though I left it open in the swap description so that people could use other kinds of fabrics if they wanted to. Have fun!

Hello there, danceypants & skenn--I'm glad you're excited for the swap; I am, too!

skenn: I think it's okay to list preferences, but just remember that your partner isn't obligated to incorporate those preferences, since I didn't make that part of the original swap description. Some people (including myself!) may have started their pieces in advance since I didn't say that the squares needed to reflect a particular partner's likes. So if people want to respond to preferences, that's fine, but not at all required. I think that if people embroider something that they would like to receive, it's likely that their partner will be happy to get it....
