Description:

This swap is an USA/Canada only swap. (If all goes well with it I will do it again but make it an international one). Newbies welcome if they message me first and I give them the ok, Profiles with a 4.5 rating or higher and no no-sends. I am not responsible for anyone who does not send out their swap. I am giving ample time to complete this project. I will angel if I have to so please contact me if you do not recieve your inkblots after Feb 27th.

For this swap you will have 1 partner. To that partner you will send 2 ink blot characters that you made, along with a letter describing your characters. (Give them a life story or tell your partner about their personality, Be creative) For hearts add a little surprise that your partner will like. Please note: since you will not want to fold these pages as that can hurt your design, please send it in a large enough envelope so that they will not bend.

I got the Idea for this swap out of the Sept/Oct issue of Somerset Studio. I have spoken with the artist who created these beauties and she was happy to share this project with you folks. As a thank you to her, I am setting up a Flickr group for this swap. Please upload scans/photos of your characters so we all can see them and so that Sandra Evertson (The artist) can see them: http://www.flickr.com/groups/inkblotswap/

Check out Sandra’s blog to see the work she did: http://sandraevertson.blogspot.com/

So how do you make an ink blot character? Basic Guidelines by Sandra Evertson (These are taking out of her article in SS)

  • Fold cardstock sheet in half and them on one side of the crease, draw a free-form squiggle with black drawing ink or acrylic paint. While still wet fold cardstock at crease again and press firmly. Open it back up again and it’s done

– artistic, detail-oriented, and highly seductive art that is ready to be embellished.

  • For interesting variations, create these in multi colors of acrylic paint.

  • Try a positive/negative effect by using white paint on black cardstock.

  • Once your blot is dry, rotate it to get different appearances.

  • Add elements (e.g. vintage ephemera, clip art, etc.) with decoupage medium but be conservative with them, as you will want to let the ink blot itself take center stage.

What a wonderful idea for a swap! I love it! Just when I said I was really gearing down from swapping for awhile, this one lured me back in again. :)

Should I be happy that I pulled you back into swapping? I think so :-) Glad to have you on-board.

OHMYGOSH! I had the wrong deadline date written down for this one! I have my ink blots already but will finish and send out no later than Tuesday, Jan. 29th. I am so sorry for the mix-up!!!

I couldn't figure out how to load my photo to the group site, so it is loaded onto my flickr only. Sorry. :/ I know it is something simple, but I just couldn't get it done. I am feeling particularly dumb tonight.

Ok for those of you who are having trouble loading your pictures. Here is the official how-to for Flickr. I hope this helps. I have seen what you ladies have done so far and I ma very happy with how this swap turned out. Thanks for everything!!

How do I share a photo with a group?

Easy! If you're a member of the group, add your photo to the group pool. (If not, join the group, because only group members can contribute to the group pool.)

The easiest way add a photo to a group is to go to the photo's page and click the "Send to Group" button between the photo title and the photo. Then choose the group you want to send it to, and you're done!

Only you and the group administrators can remove a photo from a group pool.

Note: If you share a photo that you marked as private with a group you are a member of, it's as if other group members have full access to that photo. They can add comments, notes, and tags. The photo isn't displayed for people who aren't members of the group.

Thank you so much, Phantom Beauty! I was going about it backwards....going to the group site and trying to upload, somehow, from there. Mine are added now.

Glad to help.
