Description:

Wait, wait...At least read the description before you brush off this swap as a snoozer! I promise there won't be much homework or any pop quizzes!

This is a two part swap inspired by some recent forum discussions and should be fun:

Part One: You will send an envelope of assorted collage goodies to your partner. Minimum envelope size of 6X9 inches. I'm not going to place rules as to exactly how much, but we are all like-minded collagists so you should send things that you would like to receive.

Part Two: Once you receive your package of collage goodies, you will have 2 weeks to send your supplier a collaged postcard in return using at least something from the supplies you received.

Bonus: You may mention one or two things that you've been looking for in the thread below. Check the thread once partners are assigned and if you have any of the things your partner mentions, I'm sure they would be eternally grateful if you included them in your package. This is not a "buying" swap though, more of a stash-sharing, so there isn't a guarantee that you will receive the special request items.

Cliff Notes:

Check the swap thread to see if you have a special item your partner is looking for.

One envelope of collage supplies (min 6X9 inches) to one partner.

Create and send a "thank you" collage postcard to your supplier.

C'mon guys...It's not scarey!! :)

FiWebster 07/ 7/2011 #

One caveat about my participation: I'll be hosting not a swap, but an important flesh-n-blood house guest the week of August 20-27. I'll get off my supplies package well before that, but it means I may be delayed a week or two getting the postcard back to my partner.

What I can offer: interesting paper napkins for napkin overlay collage; sections from 1943 Texas Transportation Maps

What I'm especially looking for, if you're my partner & you happen to have it: scientific/technical diagrams; pages from foreign-language dictionaries or books, especially German OR languages w/ cool-looking script (e.g. Indian languages)

FiWebster 07/ 7/2011 #

Oh, and Mandy, are we supposed to mail the pc back naked, or in an envie?

FarStarr 07/ 7/2011 #

NAKED baby!...You know me! :)

FarStarr 07/ 7/2011 #

I don't have any special requests, but I DO like my FISH...and I don't love people...in my art...but whatever you send will be great and I will use the people...but it may not be pretty....hee hee

robinomayberry 07/ 9/2011 #

As for me, my "symbolic lexicon" seems to be birds, eggs and butterflies. At least I don't put wings and hats on people. Anymore.

Kessie 07/ 9/2011 #

I like shiny stuff, e.g. gold paper, mirror card, holographic papers etc, and am currently working on an Alice in Wonderland project with themes like clocks/watches, red or white roses, hearts, chessboard patterns etc. I also do montages of coloured photos e.g. cut from magazines, of interesting people, animals etc., and newpaper headlines with surreal meanings or interesting words in them. But I'm happy to try new themes and genres!

MissPaula 07/10/2011 #

Hey Hey Hey @ robinomayberry! I like wings and hats on my people! = )

stephiedee 07/10/2011 #

I'm happy to receive random stuff - people (with or without wings), animals, fancy napkins, what have you. I'd just like to say icksnay to dictionary pages if I can - I have more than enough already :)

misscorbeau 07/11/2011 #

I wouldn't mind pretty napkins, game pieces/cards, vintage anything. Thank you!

luleemik 07/12/2011 #

I'm confused...you receive stuff from one person and then send a completed pc to your partner? So are you getting rated on what you send as a pc or what you sent as collage stuff? Am I over thinking this?

FarStarr 07/12/2011 #

Hi luleemilk,

Yes, you receive a package of collage goodies and you rate your partner for sending you collage goodies.

Then, you make a postcard using some of your new prizes and send it back as a "thank you"...and to show off your art!

No, you don't get rated on the postcard.

luleemik 07/13/2011 #

Thanks for the clarification:) Count me in!

FarStarr 07/13/2011 #

Yay!!

luleemik 07/13/2011 #

vintage anything is right up my alley...also luv anything Mexican or Dia de los Muertos

SherriB 07/19/2011 #

Ok, I'm in! I love anything vintage, or bird/birdcage, botanical/nature--esp. cool napkins in these themes. I'll be at a teacher's conference throught the first week of August, so my postcard may be a tad delayed--but I'll get my envie of goodies off in plenty of time for my partner.

naturenerd3 07/20/2011 #

Here are the themes I like if my partner has any to share!: Alice in Wonderland, botanicals, nature, birds, Dia de los Muertos, dark/morbid, Victorian, 50's women

FarStarr 07/21/2011 #

Thanks for signing up, everyone. I'm seeing a nice mix of some of my favorite people and some new friends!

jukejan 07/24/2011 #

Oh no, what have I gotten myself into?

Things I would love in no particular order are... naughty ladies, ticket stubs, older looking postcards to cut up, calender pages that have wonderful photos.

iLoveMail 07/25/2011 #

This is my 1st swap in the group & am happy to join anything @FarStarr is hosting!

I'd love anything vintage or retro (1979 or earlier). If possible, no pages or pieces from current magazines :) but I'm sure I'll be able to use whatever I receive!

crescendo 07/25/2011 #

I like sheet music and children's book illustrations if you got 'em.

MissPaula 07/30/2011 #

I am lacking Vintage birds, Pin up Girls, B/W checkerboard and Words. I will appreciate whatever I receive and put my heart into making a nice PC! = )

user5311 07/30/2011 #

I like illustrations from readers, real ephemera, paper dolls. I have dictionary pages, flash cards, used postage stamps.

FarStarr 07/31/2011 #

Partners are assigned!

Time to start digging through your stash! We'll see how far into it I get before I get sidetracked and have to create something.. hee hee...

Don't forget to put a note here if there is something your supplier might have that will really blow your skirt up. :)

Have fun!

17Papergoddess 07/31/2011 #

prefer not to have magazine pages or travel brochures, have no clue what to do with anything Kawaii but pretty much open to anything. I cant think of any specific skirt blowing material but will post if I find inspiration in the next couple days. 40's era ephemera will get my skirt hem twitching for starters...

susiqz 07/31/2011 #

I love anything vintage, chippy, old, ledger, photos, vintage ephemera...
