Description:

What you will need to do is buy or make a moleskin cahier with at least 40 pages. You can also make individual pages and bind them together at the end to create your own book. You don't have to use a Moleskine journal, these are examples that are available internationally and online for those without good stationery shops local to them. You don't have to use both sides of the paper, as this is not always possible with painting/bleed through from markers, as long as you have 40 pages. You may, of course, have more pages. You will alter the cover in some way.You can paint them, cover them with fun patterned papers, sew on them, cover them with stickers, draw on them, whatever inspires you. Here's a link to making your own pocket size notebooks:

http://daisyjanie.typepad.com/daisyjanie/2009/11/how-to-make-a-pocketsized-notebook.html

You will then kick-start your partners sketchbook by art journaling, collage, doodling, etc. on the first 5 pages. You are free to fill the book in any way you choose, but variety is the spice of life so try to use different mediums in your journal. You can paint, collage, stick photo's in, alter existing pictures, use fancy lettering or doodle your pants off. Just make it gorgeous for your partner so that they have something to treasure. Note- the pages in cahiers ARE VERY thin. I suggest using color pencils & markers. You don't have to wait until partners are assigned to do your 5 pages. They are senders choice.

Since you're using a pocket size cahier, you can pop it in your pocket or purse & doodling in it on the go. You will have four weeks to buy or make a cahier, alter the cover, journal 5 pages, & send it. This swap is international because to mail a pocket-size cahier will not be pricey. No one rated less than 4.5; no one with any "no-sends"; newbies welcome, but please message me first.

Let's make this a fun creative swap! Any questions?

just so I have it right, I do have a small moleskine journal, design the cover and create 5 pages and then send.

journalboy 09/ 2/2011 #

Correct! I hope to start a series of these journals but add themes in the future. :)

after reading the post again, do we do 5 front and back pages if there is no bleeding or mess? I couldn't decide what you met 5 whole pages or just 5 sides.

journalboy 09/ 3/2011 #

senders choice. :)

flowerlady57 09/ 3/2011 #

ok thanks

flofirenzie 09/ 6/2011 #

Do we only do 5 pages and leave the rest of the pages blank?

I only ask you do 5, but you're free to do more. Just leave some pages for your partner to do.

I have a couple of the moleskin journals and one is 4 x 7 and the other is 6 x 8...neither of them have close to 40 pages and I can't imagine how they could. As I want to make my own, I read the link you posted, and it suggests 2, 8 x 11 pieces of paper, which would give you 8 pages...again how could these cahier's begin to close with 40 pages? Did you mean 20 and count the front and back of each piece? Thank you so much for the swap I just need to understand it a bit more before I start...thanks, Sheryl

Sorry I wasn't clear, but yes the 20 pages will do counting the front 1 & back 2. I'm glad you like the swap idea. -^.^-
