Got Christmas Cards?

Whoa, don't toss them after the holidays!

Let's recycle our holiday cards and turn them into gift tags for next year.

Your task: Gather your holiday cards, cut off the top (part with the picture) and upcycle them into gift tags. You may cut them with scissors, use a die cutting machine, paper punches, or electronic cutting machine.

Create ten (10) gift tags for your partner. Minimum size 3½ x 2 inches (think business card size). Two cards must contain more than one layer (sender's choice)

Stamp back side with “to and from” or write it

Sender’s Choice:

• Images and tag shapes (may also fussy cut images)

Save on postage

• Please do not add ribbon so envelope stays flat. Recipient will add ties.

Suggestion for keeping the envelope contents flat:

To make a mailing pocket from one piece of paper (copy paper is fine)

• cut the paper about ½ inch smaller than the width of the envelope

• fold it in half horizontally

• then fold the bottom edge up a few inches (depending on desired pocket depth)

• fold the top down to create a small flap

• fold the pocket in half horizontally or gauge to find the center of the envelope, glue this line to seal the center to make two pockets

• glue or tape the sides to form the pocket, leaving the top flap open or folding it to seal

• make certain your pockets are large enough for your tags

RECAP:

• Ten gift tags (sender's choice, image and shape)

• Two must be more than one layer

• Include "to and from"

Note: the video has a separate white (cardstock) backing. If your tag is flat and can be written upon then you don’t need to add a backing.
