I remember swapping with my west german (oops west germany guess i gave my age away!) pen pal when I was younger. Loved when we would stick random gifts in our packages to each other. She would send me items, tell me they were popular there and how people used them there (if need be). I remember getting plastic earrings and stickers for my nails. I cherished the items. Also she always used her local paper to pack with. I still love getting something packed with local newspapers. I read them!
