Live in Berryton, Kansas, USA with my husband and three dogs (yes we are animal lovers!) on our country "estate" (if 3/4 of an acre and 1969 brick ranch count as an estate...). I grew up as the daughter of a career Army soldier, then became one myself for three wonderful years, two of them in Germany (for which I am eternally grateful) and still have the travel bug, dreaming about going back overseas "one of these days."
I was diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer in August of 2020 and after months of excruciating chemotherapy with no results I’m now undergoing radiation and oral chemo. My body is healing and I’m able to get back to cooking and crafting. My prayer warrior team is outstanding and I feel the touch of God more and more each day.
Things I like to swap -- so far I've done a ton of swaps for crocheted items, like squares for granny square afghans, Christmas ornaments, fabric for quilting and other fabric projects.
It has been a little while since I did my last swap and since that time I've amassed a humongous collection of paper products for scrapbooks, greeting cards, mini albums and so on. It would be fun to swap some of my unloved-but-awesome products with others!
Crochet, knit, bead jewelry, sewing and other needlecraft, scrapbooks, greeting cards. I have loads of books and magazines, along with tons of printed patterns for things I intend to make "one of these days." Current WIPs: sampler quilt with 100 6 1/2” squares, several junk journals and various things that I've long forgotten about but that will resurface one of these days. Oh, did I mention that I suffer from CADD (Crafter's Attention Deficit Disorder!)... in other words, I get bored easily and tend to move on to something new and exciting if something takes too long, requires "ingredients" that I'd have to go buy, becomes too difficult, and so the story goes...
NCIS, CSI, Call Me Kat, Alias, Bewitched, Little House on the Prairie, gardening and craft shows, Lifetime and Hallmark and other miscellaneous shows.
Deep forest green, dark purple, chestnut brown (and pretty much all the fall colors that you'd see on the trees), pastel pink and mint green.
I absolutely LOVE anything vintage, especially the old flour sack prints, paisley, small print and boho prints. I like cotton for quilting and am also looking for 100% rayon for making chenille. Any kind of natural fabric that can be used for aplique would be great too (homespun, corduroy, denim, flannel, etc.)
I love drinking coffee and tea. Here are some of the flavors and such that I like: Vanilla hazelnut tea, wine-infused coffee (discovered that on our 2007 farm tour at a winery and absolutely LOVE i!), caramel, strawberries (especially when they're doused with Stevia and put over warm gluten free shortcake, topped with whipped cream), blueberries, pumpkin pie with oodles of coconut whipped cream on top, apple pie ala mode, garlic on just about anything except sweets, pork loin cooked all day in the crock pot... okay enough about food...
Yarn (especially wool that can be felted), vintage fabric (cotton), sari silk, beads, crochet and knit magazines, cookbooks (really love the old ones that came with appliances and the ones with old pictures in them), anything vintage that can be used in junk journals (old ledgers, crispy old book pages, player piano pages, Braille pages, old letters and envelopes.)
