I'm fairly new to the realm of mail art and swaps through the mail. So far I'm really enjoying it. I'll participate in what I join, but can't be involved in a ton of swaps because I'm in school and have a limited budget. I'm currently finishing my art degree in painting, and this outlet let's me create without having too many rules and parameters or critiques or grades!

I love art, music, mid-century modern anything, and architecture. Making art with paper, paint, inks, collage is a pastime I love. I enjoy text and words in art...different fonts and calligraphy. I like dress patterns and old blueprints and vintage graphics...vintage ephemera of almost any kind especially from 1950s-1960s. I love a good aqua blue and analogous color harmonies, and who can pass up a great coral color?

Things I don't really enjoy: hearts, glitter, gold, bedazzling, cats or animal prints, comics/cartoons (a little is okay, but it's not my thing). I'm no super girly, so lots of frilly, flowery stuff is not my cup of tea. Also, things that are morbid are not really things I want to look at all the time.

Worship music, All Sons & Daughters, Bethel Worship, Motown, Gershwin, Jazz standards, soul, Sam Cooke, Sinatra, Dinah Washington, Otis Redding, Adele, Norah Jones, James David Carter, Garth, Zack Brown Band, Carrie Underwood, Little Big Town, Andre Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, Benny Goodman, classical when I'm in the mood. I just love good music!

I read a lot of motivational books. Brene Brown: Daring Greatly, Rising Strong. Liz Gilbert:Big Magic. Donald Miller: Scary Close. Messy Grace: Caleb Kaltenback. I also enjoy biographies and books dealing with race relations. Just about to start The New Jim Crow by Michele Alexander. I like good fiction as well, but don't read it as frequently. Enjoyed Everything I Never Told You, The Kitchen House, Calling Me Home, and Me Before You.

I've done a lot of crafts over the years from sewing to painting. I always enjoy working with paper and the many ways it can be manipulated. I like text and vintage imagery a lot. Love using vintage ephemera in my art whenever I can. I love paper marbling! I learned how to make paper this semester in school. This past summer I did monoprints with acrylics and took a watercolor class, so I think those things will show up in my work from time to time as well.
