Just had the Big 5-0 Birthday, so let the games begin! Married to a retired firefighter, with no children of my own - I'm a "Dog Mom". I have a retired champion Lakeland Terrier. I don't have anything to do with dog shows though; I was just looking for a furbaby, and fate brought me "Gossip", who had recently retired from her life in the show ring. Gossip is my cuddlebunny! I'm just "gone" on dogs!
I also love gardening - especially cottage flowers and container gardening, vintage "kitch"-type collecting - in blues and reds, cottage/vintage decorating, rubber stamping, simple craft projects, cross-stitching (I only use DMC Embroidery Floss - so the colors in my projects will be consistent - and always need white),stitching projects on perforated paper, Mary Engelbreit, and Shabby Chic.
I enjoy reading gardening and cottage decorating magazines. I love Papercrafting-type magazines, and would love to receive an issue of some type of papercrafting (not scrapbooking) or altered art magazine in a swap - Gently used and/or older issues are fine with me! I am interested in books or magazines that show how to make items out of scrapbooking supplies, like Exploding Photo Boxes, journals, etc. I don't scrapbook, because - not having any children - I really have no one to pass them on to when I'm gone, so it kind of seems like a waste of time for me personally. But I love to use the scrapbooking paper and cardstock and embellishments to make other things. I love rub-ons...especially in cream, white or brown.
While my kitchen, living room and bedroom are done in "Cottage/Vintage" blues and reds, I'm in the process of doing my Guest Room over in "Cottage/Vintage" pink.
I'm wanting to get started trying my hand at ATCs; so I would love any little thing to help me to get started! I've never seen a fabric charm, paper bag book or a friendship book, except on the Internet.
I would love to see examples or receive tips on how to make the things swappers make for each other. I would love to receive any instructions (even copied off the Internet, or tell me an Internet site where I could get instructions) on any type of 3-D PaperCrafting item or Felt Food item. I also am collecting Vintage Ephemera.
I love anything vanilla-scented, and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Chai Tea!!! Yankee Candles "Spiced Pumpkin" melting tarts are my favorite. I do NOT use candles with lead wicks running through the center of the wick. I'M CRAZY ABOUT CUPCAKES, PAISLEY AND POLKA DOTS - THINK PINK!!!
As far as dislikes, the only things I can think of are the colors yellow, orange, avocado green and brown (earth tones), and I don't like punk or rap music. Also, as mentioned above, I don't have children, so I don't really like and have no use for rewards stickers, and children's stickers and/or children's rubber stamps. I am building my collection of regular (not children's) rubber stamps. I have to say that because you would be surprised (maybe not!) at the fact that I've received children's reward stickers and children's rubber stamps, even after stating here in my profile that I have no children. I'm Not into Disney, and my tummy can't handle sour candies. Also, I am NOT into anything pagan or "dark", and that includes music or art. I totally respect others' rights to their beliefs and pursuits, but it is just not my thing.
OK, I hate to have to be more specific with my dislikes, as I am NOT a picky person! But after receiving a package from a "higher stakes, profile-based" swap that included several children's items, I thought maybe it would help if I were more clear. PLEASE, NO children's items... including children's stickers, foam stamps, or items for children's scrapbooks. I do NOT have any children, so these items will only go to waste. And PLEASE, NO EARTHTONES: mustard yellow, orange, avocado green, and brown. I love pastels - especially pink, but any pastel is fine, or blues and reds. Just PLEASE, NO mustard yellow, orange, avocado green and brown. The kind of yellow that goes with pinks and pastels is fine, and the kind of green that goes with pinks and pastels is fine. And PLEASE, NO Children's items! I have no use for them. Earthtones and children's items: that's not too picky, is it? Thanks very much!
