Hello, I'm Vanessa, a. k. a. FriendlyFerret. I read and write only English. I've been happily married to the same man since Feb. 2, 1985. We like the quiet and friendliness of living in a rural area. Basically, I'm just a creative person who loves to hang out with other creative people, and Swap-bot seems to be a great place for that!
I love almost all colors, but a strong orange is probably my least favorite. If I had to pick some I really like right now, I might pick aqua/turquoise, purple/violet, greens (not so much olive green), pink, and red. I really do like all strong colors, though.
Actually, I love silence more than music, but when I do listen to music, I listen to classical, or modern Christian music.
I'm not reading much fiction these days. My favorite books now are how-to books on arts and crafts, and I love to study the Bible.
The most powerful movie ever to me is The Passion of Christ. We don't watch TV, but we do buy carefully selected (and clean) movies and TV series on DVD to watch at home. My favorites of that type are disaster movies, MacGyver, Hogan's Heroes, and Stargate Atlantis.
I do art of all kinds--watercolor, gouache, acryl gouache, acrylics and open acrylics, soft pastels, oil pastels, wax pastels, casein, colored pencil, watercolor pencils, mixed media, and sometimes markers. I like oils, but I just don't have the space to store them while they cure. I have done water-based oils also. As far as crafts, I do a little hand-sewing, and I am making a throw-size quilt (my first). I do paper crafting--cards, ATC's, bookmarks, buttons, envelopes, flowers, etc. I am currently knitting squares on a loom for an afghan. I also do a little photography occasionally, and I have carved a couple rubber stamps, drawing my own image for them.
I'm a Christian, so no dragons, nothing demonic, satanic, pagan, new-age, witchcraft/sorcery, anti-Christian or promoting non-Christian religions. I love tangle art, but for religious reasons, I ask that you do not call it Zentangle. Calling it tangle art leaves the zen buddhism out of it. I have special dietary restrictions, so I ask that you do not send any food or beverages.
Bright colors, art, a light-hearted sense of humor, fashion, ATC's, rubber stamp images that can be colored in, original handmade rubber stamp images of any kind, any original crafts, unusual or large buttons (ordinary large or unusual classy), lace, ribbon, bright color fabrics, homemade envelopes, 6x6 stencils, homemade or unusual bookmarks, collages, math and numbers, butterflies, classy stickers (esp. flowers and butterflies), a good use of words, unusual tickets (not the standard ones used for raffles, etc.), gemstones (flat decorations or beads), pretty and unused USA postage stamps, coins and small souvenirs from outside the US, clocks and watches, embroidery floss, and much more!
