Crafter of many trades, artist of none. Above is my Tumblr. I now keep it current with the projects I'm working on. If I'm making something for you that you have not received yet, DON'T PEEK! :)
Moving on,
My name is Jenny. I'm a stay-at-home mom.
We have a simple life. We heat with wood and can our food. We go berry picking every year so I can make a bunch of jams and jellies. I hope to learn how to cook better as well as nailing down some more domestic skills. My current obsession is fermented things.
I love humor and sarcasm and inappropriate jokes. I enjoy stupid puns and cheesy lines. I especially love handmade over store bought. Drawings and paintings are my favorite. Well-done collage is much appreciated. I just appreciate handmade effort and welcome it and all its imperfections!
-FYI for Christmas swaps: I am Christian but also enjoy all things Santa as well. I dig the whole she-bang and will love whatever you send!
-CATS CATS CATS, ALL THINGS CATS!
-Birds (especially Cardinals and woodpeckers)
-woodland creatures (squirrels, chipmunks, bears, deer, raccoons, possums)
-pangolins (you guys, these things crack me up!)
-dinosaurs
-bugs (especially praying mantises, honeybees, grasshoppers, crickets, katydids)
-all flowers and trees, especially Dogwoods and weeping willows and "weed" flowers like Black-Eyed Susans and Daisys and Touch-Me-Nots and honeysuckle and on and on
-"Home Sweet Home" items/themes
-"Mates for Life" themes. Did you know termites mate for life? I know, right!
-dramatic/serious renditions of funny things
-TINY THINGS that will fit in my hanging printer drawer. New, old, serious, funny, whatever!
-Lumberjack themed items (due to my husband's job and not because it's in style), things with saw blades, axes, trees, plaid, suspenders, chainsaws, boots.
-Bigfoot (because he's funny)
-Bible scriptures/hymns
-humor/cartoons
-Spanish
-weird, bizarre, odd things
-pen drawings and paintings
-skulls (prefer animal over human), any anatomical anything. I just think bodies are the coolest.
-My favorite colors are blue, green, and red. I especially love blue paired with gold and red paired with aqua. I love black with white and also sepia.
I most enjoy crochet, cross stitch, needlepoint, drawing, needle felting, and adding googly eyes to things. I hoard vintage laces from the 1960's so much so that I had to open an Etsy store to sell some to justify the amount I have (since closed due to having a baby). I love finding vintage fabric scraps (and hoarding those too). I have a ridiculous amount sewing supplies, buttons, vintage wrapping paper, and boatloads of stuff I'll never use. Sometimes it's a burden and I try to force free stuff on people, and I scare them.
I just started playing around with watercolors, and it seems to be going semi-okay.
I'm also a member on postcrossing.com and enjoy receiving postcards from all over the world. Prefer NAKED postcards! They have way more character.
My favorites are movies set from the Civil War up through Prohibition. I really like Lawless, Oh Brother Where Art Thou, Cold Mountain, etc. I like items/themes from those times as well, such as overhauls, suspenders, porches, rocking chairs, moonshine, outhouses, growing/canning food, woodstoves and fireplaces, simple homesteads, blue grass and folk music, feed/flour sack material. Rusty or worn items.
My favorite actor of all time is Paul Newman. I really really like Tom Hardy and am beginning to appreciate Leonardo DiCaprio as well. I really like Quentin Tarantino films.
Obviously The Other Guys is worth mentioning due to dialogue and quotability.
We don't have television, but I enjoy documentaries on Netflix. I enjoy reading but find it difficult to find something that holds my interest. I prefer to learn about something new over fiction.
That being said, I love The Secret Garden (both the movie and the book). Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is an awesome read. The most disturbing book I've read is Geek Love, but I must admit it held my interest.
LOVE Calvin and Hobbes
-Sanrio anything. Especially Hello Kitty. She can go jump off a bridge.
-sports
-food (I'm restricted) and scented things (our house is chemical free)
-super duper modern girly things (old things ok!)
-pop music
-steampunk
-Those 3D, layered scrapbook stickers
-Cartoon characters (Disney etc)
-alphabet and reward stickers
-purple (If I never see purple again, it will be too soon)
-Victorian style things
-Hello Kitty (did I say this one already?)
-poorly done collage
-Faux country stuff like teddy bears with sunflowers and geese with hats
-Stickers (Kawaii welcome)
-Washi Tape, deco tape, etc
-Ribbon
-Microscopic pens and paintbrushes

-Anything with cats on it....or any of the other 137 things I listed above!
-Little works of art by you! I'm a sucker for things that can go in my old printer drawer shelf or things I can frame.
What did the fish say when it ran into the wall?
"Dam."
