I'm a nurse and currently work in research with patients with Cystic Fibrosis. I've also worked with head and neck cancer research studies, National Institutes of Health research, and psychiatric research studies. I was never going to be a nurse (my first degree was in French)...all I can say is, "Never say never!"
I love old junk and ephemera and vintage clothing and jewelry (although I really don't wear any of it) and am selling stuff on Ebay to put my last kid through college and to take a trip to Italy and Greece.
Both my kids have moved out, but Pixie and Sugar (my sweet former shelter dogs) keep things lively at home.
I'm somewhat crafty but haven't had time in years to really do any big projects. So I paint a little here, write a little there, sew a bit and draw a bit.
I love to travel (I've been to France, England, Belgium, Amsterdam, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Mexico and Canada) and am planning a trip to Italy and Greece this fall. I'm also a member of the Couchsurfing Collective (couchsurfing.com) and have hosted a number of people from all over the world, and will be staying with host families on my next trip.
I also love to read; at least one book and usually more every week. I prefer fiction, but also like history.
I've been divorced for many years but am now engaged (what a surprise!).
Old rock 'n roll, bluegrass, classical, folk, big band; favorite artists are the Beatles, Al Stewart, Mountain Smoke, Benny Goodman, and many more.
Sewing (especially toys); embroidery; needlepoint; painting (oils and acrylics); drawing with colored pens; pen and ink; writing; thrift store shopping
My very favorites are Pride and Prejudice and Alice in Wonderland. I also read just about any kind of fiction as long as it's well written and not too gory. I like history and history based fiction also.
