About Me

I am a registered nurse, wife and mother. I live in rural Washington State with my husband, 15 yo daughter, 2 cats and 6 laying hens, and 5 baby chicks. (my animals don't get near the stuff I send out) I work from my home doing Disease Management Nursing. I have fibromyalgia, so working from home suits me. I think I was a pioneer in a past life. I love old-time crafts, making things from scratch and my chickens. If I had more property, I would have sheep and milk goats....oh and angora goats!!

My Hobbies include:
making soap, making candles, dyeing fiber, spinning, knitting, weaving, canning and anything else that comes up. I love to watch TV, hang out with my teenage daughter and shop online. I am an eBay, Etsy and Ravelry nut. I also recently took a lampworking class and I am trying to teach myself to play the mountain dulcimer.

I love to spin wild and artsy novelty yarns out of animal fibers. When my mom first saw a scarf I knitted her comment was.."What dead animal are you wearing?" It may have been a bit organic looking :-)

Favorite Music

I am NOT fond of heavy metal, rap or alternative rock. I like classic rock, show tunes, folk music, some country, 70s & 80s. Frank Sinatra...and much more

Favorite Books

Knitting, spinning and weaving books. None in particular. I am a magazine gal. UPDATE: New favorite book, INTERTWINED by Lexi Boeger

Favorite Television

The Office, ER, Medium, Martha Stewart, anything on HGTV and the Food Network, Many BBC America shows: Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares, Cash In the Attic, Bargain Hunt

Favorite Movies

Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally, Tommy Boy, Christmas Vacation

Favorite Crafts

Stuff I like:

Sheep,Buttons, Bracelets (large 8"), vintage brooches, antique/vintage sewing notions, old spools of silk thread, Vintage Ephemera, Vintage Glassware, Antiques, Crafts, vintage Aprons and vintage kitchen linens, Fiber, Spinning stuff, old vintage wooden knitting needles, Chickens, Kitchenalia, funky yarn, wooden bowls, Rubber Stamps, Silver Earrings, Hand Written notes, sticky notes, Poetry, Laughing, Kindess, Charity, God, Helping people and animals in need, Garden whimsy and whimsy (in general, cool stuff to ply with my handspun yarn

Stuff I DON'T like or need

Neon colors, Housework, cheezy things, stuffed animals, floral scents, plastic, sardines, necklaces, Satan, Things that keep me from having fun, Mean people, Rudeness, Ignorance, Hate, Selfishness

Favorite Colors

For jewelry, I like silver, black, navy, red, and jewel tones. No pastels. In general and for fiber, I like teal, magenta, navy blue, dark green, olive green and purple, and really most colors. I don't want to limit myself. I might be surprised. I slso like just natural "animal" colors. Not a big fan of orange or yellow, unless they are very muted or in with other autumn colors.

Food and Beverages

I love decaf coffee, no flavors, not a big tea fan...but fruit teas are ok. I do like hot chocolate. I love candies, esp. chocolate (dark, milk or white). I love nuts and coconut....not a big jelly or fruit candy person....but am willing to try anything. I am not a big fan of spicy foods.

Comment: There are occasions when I'd like to be able to give multiple hearts, and this package is one! The chocolate is one I've heard of but not had a chance to try, the (handspun) yarn is gorgeous, and then there's the extras, all of which are going straight into my knitting bag. A lovely swap partner indeed!
