Hi - I am a 51 year old woman with a professional job and a love for all sorts of crafts. I am hoping that these swaps will broaden my knowledge and interests.
As well as crafts, I have two dogs which take up much of my time and love cooking, reading, musicals, theatre .......life!
I love musicals and the music on my ipod ends towards the "middle of the road" status. Growing up in the seventies my first musical love was Donny Osmond and one of my greatest thrills was to see him live a couple of years ago.
Living in the UK, my favourite radio station is Radio 2 - that will give you a flavour of my musical tastes! My most recently downloaded cd was of Wicked - I am going to see the show on Broadway in October so wanted to get to know the music.
I have what some may say an ecletic taste!
I love "chick lit" and Mills and Boon. However I also love Stieg Larsson, Jodie Picoult, Jo Nesbo and Susan Hill. I always have a book on the go and love my ipad with its Kindle app - between the ipad and the iphone I am never without something to read. Once I finish one book I simply decode on the next one depending on what mood I am in!
At heart I am a real softie and will always tend towards the romantic type of film - currently I am awaiting the release this week of One Day. I also loved the first Sex and The City film.
Other favourite genre are the action hero type with humour - you know the type - Indiana Jones, National Secrets, Pirates of the Carribean etc.
However i go to the pictures with friends every month or so and we take it in turns to decide so I tend to see a variety. My main dislike is "shoot them up and kill them" type - the Bourne triology being near the top of my all time hated films.
Soaps, soaps and soaps! Coronation street and Eastenders!
Other favourites include The apprentice - both UK and USA, Hells Kitchen, Waterloo Road, Mad Men and Dragons Den. The common theme being programmes where I dont have to think too much and can turn my brain off!
I tend to try most crafts - cardmaking, scrapbooking, knitting, sewing, ATC's, embroidery - and tend to go overborad with them all. You know the sort of thing - buy everything you need, work intensely for six months to a year and then move on to the next best thing!
I also belong to a local embroidery group and enjoy the variety of ideas and techniques that this group generates.
Don't you just hate that - we're programmed not to ask for things then a site like this wants us to help others. So, in that spirit and not expecting anything I would like:-
Fabric - I am trying to do a patchwork quilt and having different designs from around the world would be fantastic - any size no matter how small - there's always room.
Scrapbooking papers and accessories
ATC's
Chick lit novels
A postcard / photo of where you live
Chocolates from around the world (well - who wouldn't?)
The front page of your local newspaper
