I got my first pen pal when I was 6 from a summer vacation, and then when Stickers! magazine came out when I was 12, I really got into pen palling -- friendship books (the FBs before Facebook came along), slams, that whole scene. I moved in my teenage years to a new school and it was pen pals who helped me through the adjustment. I was writing long into my 20s and early 30s and then when I moved to Baltimore I lost touch with most of my pals, except for email and such. Super excited to have a reason to visit the mailbox again, because just getting bills in the mail is a total bummer.

I have so many interests -- I love to draw, cook, travel, read, I read German fairly well and can write it okay... I don't speak it as well because I am hard of hearing and sometimes even talking to people in English is difficult depending on how quietly they speak. :-) I love obscure holidays and silly tourist attractions, painting, the ocean, being creative, festivals, tea, coffee, and discovering new restaurants. I am a total foodie. I am also a big animal lover.

I love getting mail, and I am happy to hear from everyone, no matter what their age or background. It's fun to talk about things we have in common and it's also fun to learn about new things.
