I do a lot of wood-burning, photography, minor sewing, and pretty little hanging charms my friends swear by for luck. I've been getting very interested in calligraphy and paper arts like collages lately but haven't had a reason to start it up yet, so this website is hopefully perfect!
I'm a college student who's a bit of a workaholic, and the easiest way for me to relieve stress is to do crafts. I've gotten pretty stressed recently, though, and to the point where I can't get myself to make things for me, and my friends are now almost expecting me to give them things all the time. I've been feeling a little unappreciated, and therefore have done almost nothing creative in about two months and my stress is just driving me nuts. I was so thrilled when a friend sent me a link to the site with a note that said, "This looks like exactly what you need right now." and I agreed completely when I saw the site. I'm now just trying to build up points so I can qualify for swaps, and would love to talk to anyone who'd be interested in a one-on-one or has links to swaps with no requirements!
Thank you!
Loves: Fruit (Green Apple, Peach, Mango, and citruses are often my favorite. I also love berries of all sorts.)
Heavily spiced things. (Bold, complex flavors found in Indian, Middle Eastern, Szechuan Chinese, Malayasian, Thai, etc. are wonderful)
Spicey! (I grew up on Mexican lollipops rolled in chili powder, so I like heat as long as there's something other than heat to the food)
Sweets! (I adore chocolate, but also love really good vanilla dishes. Shakes, smoothies, cookie, and pie recipes are generally loved. Cake, however, is almost always a no no. I like creamy textures.)
Bread! (I love dem carbs, and adding lots of odd hippy ingredients is not a problem for me)
Japanese food! (I can never find someone who knows how to make seaweed salad...help? Big eyes)
"Bizarre" foods that most Americans don't get to try, my goal is to put everything reputed to be edible in my mouth before I die.
Almost anything else!
Don't Send: Cakes. (Hard or very soft creamy is okay, but I really dislike bready cakes)
Soda (Or carbonated anything. I'm a baby and the bubbles burn so I have never been able to get myself to drink soda)
Misc: (Not a fan of tofu, Chinese curries, fruit on meat, and am mostly vegetarian because lots of heavy meat makes me sick. I love a good steak, and am more interested in beef and lamb than white meat. Also, seafood doesn't count, they're the vegetables of the ocean. :P)
Deep, vibrant reds and purples are ,my favorite, though I LOVE green, too, and it's a close second to the two front runners. The nice thing, too, is these colors tend to look the best on me when I wear them, so I often get to shop for my favorite colored items.
I like a lot of things, and even if it's not normally my taste I'm going to be thrilled that someone gave it to me or even better, made it for me. I'm pretty girly, and love interesting jewelry, shinies, and "cute" things. I'm still like a four year old about objects with faces and half-consider them mini-pets, they always end up with a name and I will often pick them out of the other bric-a-brack and show them off proudly (I signed up after seeing the idea for "Matchbox Critters"), and my friends joke around I'll be running around after saving my pets trying to collect all my figurines if my house is ever on fire.
So, I'm basically maternal and girly, but I love different cultures (I'm a mythology nerd), and am very open minded about religious gifts as long as they're not focused on missionizing me. I also love Gay Pride stuff, political things, and other things many might consider offensive. The only thing that I ask is if I receive something that bothers me I will still appreciate your work, but ask that you don't repeat the element that upset me in any future swaps. On the off chance that someone does not take "no" for an answer, I'm going to put that disclaimer up, but otherwise I'd rather people feel safe to be creative and worry about problematic people as a side note.
