Hey! I'm Lauren, and I'm a novice-y crafter here.

I love politics! Everything about it--the intrigue, law, the good people can do. Well, okay, not EVERYTHING about it, I don't like corrupt politicians (and it seems like there are just so many nowadays!) I know people who think 'politics' is a dirty word, but I believe that we can actually do good. I know, I know, it's a naive and very opimistic viewpoint, but I do think like that. shrug

I am a student activist; on my campus I co-lead our chapter of the Gay-Straight Alliance, and also I run a chapter of STAND, the Student Division of Genocide Intervention Network. With a full class-load, that's a bit of work, but I love it. I am also considering a post on our Teen Health Advisory Board, a member of our Student Government propositioned me about it recently. Man, that was weird! Ah, I love STAND. I've been the chapter here since '07, and since then have been having great fun educating my peers on genocide, advocating for legislation and action, and fundraising for civilian protection in Darfur, Burma and Congo. This year I was posted to the National Leadership Board for the organization, it's amazing! I love it.

Well, that'a me in a bit of a nutshell. I love to talk and share with people, so hit me up! I want to warn you, I'm pretty opinionated, so don't be too offended by me, alright? And, don't worry about offending me, I've got tough skin and will tell you if you're being offensive.

Oh! I just recently made up a blog at www.standlauren.blogger.com. I use it to share my ideas and ideologies, mostly on politics and philosophy, but it works. I love it. It's really interesting, I've found. Blogging feels so different than just regular writing, I don't know why. :)

I love music! I live and breathe it. Some of my favorite bands are: Queen; Metallica; Megadeth; Black Sabbath; Ozzy Osborne; My Chemical Romance; The Used; Queens of the Stone Age; Patsy Cline; Beethoven; Mozart; Vivaldi; and much more! There are so many genres of music that I enjoy it's crazy. I'm a singer/songwriter, and love to just jam out randomly with friends. You can most often find me at a piano or a microphone.

Reading is a passion, not a hobby here. Some of my favorite authors are P.C. Cast, Christine Feehan, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and others. I generally read fantasy/romance, dabbling in Sci-Fi every now and then; there's an author that I just absolutely ADORE, John Ringo. He's got so many different facets, from his sci-fi to his military series. I don't know why, but I just love him.

Some of my favorite movies are: The Contender, Deterrence, Last of the Mohicans, The Emperor's New Groove, Pan's Labyrinth, Labyrinth, anything by Tim Burton, and much more. You might notice a distinct mixing of genres in the ones I listed, because I don't like ONLY romance or ONLY comedy, just whatver I'm in the mood for. I like some of all movie genres.

I watch Glee, it's hilariously amazing. Some of my other favorites to watch are The Colony, Avatar: The Last Airbender, House, Lie to Me, Law and Order (all three series, original, SVU and CI), The Mentalist, Mental, and a couple others I can't think of. I grudgingly watched The Dresden Files when it was on, but more out of loyalty to the books. It was alright, definitely not how I would have done it, but still okay.

I like to think of myself as creative, not so much crafty; I've got a bit of craft ADD, so I do a little bit of a lot of crafts. I've dabbled in knitting, crochet, sewing, embroidery, cross-stitch, candy-making, soap-making, a bit of everything. I would like to get into candle-making, I've got a few kits, but I don't ever seem to have the time. :(

Things I would like to receive: pretty much anything I've listed up here, and whatever different crafts you like! I enjoy being introduced to other crafts, it's all good. :)

Colors:

I like blue, purple, red, green, brown, black, yellow, silver, gold... If you can find it in nature, I'll like it EXCEPT FOR PINK. Well, most shades of it. I don't know why, I just don't really like it.

Smells:

Vanilla, lavender, chamomile, hibiscus, gardenia, rose, cinnamon, peppermint, some others that I can't think of.

Uh, well, I wear a 2X t-shirt, I like them big and baggy for comfort (plus, I won't lie, I'm a big girl)... I like Tie-Dye, anything related to peace, I'm a bit of a hippie sometimes. For more indepth about me, just send a message!
