I LOVE crafting and I LOVE getting/sending snail mail. I'm so excited to get back into swapping! I am a stay at home Mom living in NJ. I have been married to the most amazing guy (Rob) for almost 12 years and I have three amazing kids. Julianna and Shealee (9) and Riley (7). A typical day for me is spent running kids to various activities, cleaning and cooking etc. At night or in my free time, I watch TV and do crafts or I read. I love reading almost as much as doing crafts. I was also on the steering team for my MOPs group in charge of (what else?) crafts! I had to leave this past year, but I am so happy to say that we will be starting up again in Sept and I am looking forward to attending MOMSnext soon. My hobbies also include reading, going to fairs and festivals, traveling, playing "BANG!", eating out at strange restaurants, spending time in NYC, shopping, baking and canning, going on dates with my husband and best of all, doing things with my little family!
Ummm... let's see. If i had to pick a kind of music I'm into, I guess it would be bluegrass and folk, but I really like all kinds of stuff. Right now my two favorites Owl City and Mumford and Sons.. Really it all starts with me hearing a song I like, tracking it down and then seeing if I like the artists other stuff.
Books... this is tough because I read A LOT, but I don't really have favorites. I read memoirs, biographies and anything about history. I almost never read any fiction. I get really stuck on the idea that what I'm reading is fake. The only fiction I read is classics. Currently I am reading the latest book by David Sedaris.
I'm not much of a movie person. I have watched every Mystery Science Theater 3000 and RiffTrax, but I'm very antsy and I can't sit still for that long. However, I do like documentaries.
Mad Men Tosh.0 Boardwalk Empire SNL Game of Thrones Workaholics The Office Vikings Mr. Seflridge Downton Abbey Bob's Burgers RIFFTRAX & MST3K !!
My favorite thing to work on is just about any kind of needle work, but working of felt is a favorite of mine. I make: penny rugs, fake food, softies, pouches, needle cases, soft sculptures... basically anything I can think of. I have tried needle felting, scrap booking , sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilling, quilting, water colors and just about everything else. There are certain things I love that often come up as themes for my crafts. "Dia De Los Muertos", anything kawaii, Asian cultures etc. I am fascinated by other cultures and I would love to receive stuff and learn about places all over the world! I love to hear about daily life in other countries. A few things I am proud of - I won "Best In Show" and two1st place ribbons this past year at our county fair! The Best in show (and one of the 1st place ribbons) was for a small hand sewn sculpture of our German Shorthaired Pointer. The other 1st place ribbon was for my NJ Blueberry pie :)
