I live with my 8yo dd, who is a tomboy and rejects most things girlie, my partner, Juliet, a horsefield tortoise called Tracy (who turned out to be a boy) and our two delinquent dogs- a 2 yr old jackapoo called Murphy and a 4 yr old rescue staffie/rottie/springer x.
I am a teaching assistant in a Junior school and hope to undertake my teacher training soon.
I love to knit! I love things knit-related, including notions, I like pretty things to go with my craft, so pretty stitch markers/holders, unusual needles, pins etc. I prefer natural yarns to manmade, although you do usually get an acceptable acrylic, especially if it is blended with something nice. I don't like eyelash yarns. I have a particular love of socks yarns, especially bright and sparkly ones.
I like warm colours, and autumnal colours suite me best, I like browns, dark greys, russets, dark greens, jade, but also like a bright red (although not too orangy!). I'm quite into mustard yellow and teal at the moment.
I love scented candles/oils/aromatherapy. They're great for relaxing and getting rid of doggie smells. I also do reiki at level 1 so love the scents to complement it.
I like to cook too, but am still learning but love to try new things. I like to try seasonal recepies. I have to be careful about what I eat sometimes and try to stay away from too much processed food, so like to try to make things myself. My girlfriend is a vegetarian and dairy intolerant, so I need to learn some yummy recipes that the three of us can eat together.
I have Crohn's disease, so get a little sicky sometimes, so like things that cheer me up. This is also why I have to watch what I eat sometimes. I can't eat anything too spicy, jell sweets or anything with too many colourings or too much sugar. I seem to be able to cope well with chocolate!
I love stationary, pens, pretty notebooks, pencils, writing paper (although I don't write as many letters as I should), notecards etc. I do journal when I'm in the mood and am trying to learn hand lettering at a snail's pace.
I also like to drink tea of all kinds. Tea features a lot in my life! I like nice cups, different teas (loose & bagged), teapots etc. I particulary like Chinese styled tea sets.
I like Japanese, Thai and Chinese foods, and like pretty chopsticks and rice bowls. Sometimes when I am ill, I can eat little more than boiled rice, so it is nice to eat it out of something pretty!
I enjoy gardening and am always trying to improve our small space. I like 3 to grow fruit and veggies especially. I have recently taken an interest in fermentation and hope to ferment my home grown food this year.
As I said, my dd is an 8 yo tomboy. She loves football (playing and Tottenham Hot Spurs), books (Wimpy Kid, Lemony Snickett, Goosebumps, David Walliams etc), The Beano, ice hockey (Guildford Flames), military, paralympics and loves 'inventing' things. Oh andear like all 8yos, Smiggle.
My oh is all about her dogs and enjoys playing the ukulele, books, film, cooking and running/muddy events.
I always prefer to get one or two really nice, slightly more expensive items than lots of cheap not so nice things!
I love reading. I mostly read contemporary fiction. Some of my favourite books include: His Dark Materials Trilogy, The Time Traveller's Wife, The Book Theif, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, 1984, The Inheritence of Loss, any Terry Pratchett, Sarah Waters, Khalid Hosseini, dystopian novels, coming of age. I enjoy most things really.
I also like to read biographies/auto-biographies and books about culture and anthropology.
Movies I like include: Momentum, Police Academy, Little Miss Sunshine, Clerks, Mallrats, The Shining, Sideways, Sean of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Battle Royale, Snatch, Crash, Shrek, High Fidelity, Empire Records, Secretary, Dodge Ball, The Big Lebowski, The Ring Trilogy (in Japanese, not the remake), Audition, Harold and Maude, So I Married an Axe Murderer, Fear and Loathing, Big Hero 6, Annie, Wizard of Oz, Trainspotting
I knit and love it, although between looking after my daughter, work, study and a relationship, I don't have as much knitting time as I would like.
I enjoy gardening and I am also trying to.learn hand lettering and calligraphy.
I also dabble in crochet from time to time, but haven't quite got the hang of it yet!
My dd loves inventing and we are making her an inventors box so are collecting bits and bobs for that.
I love ska punk and folk pop. I'm pretty open minded in regards to music.
Artists I like include: Reel Big Fish, The Ramones, Munford and Sons, Sum 41, Bryan Adams, Guns n Roses, Skrillex, The Lumineers, Vance Joy, Hozier, Rizzle Kicks, The Pixies, Incubus, Graham Coxen, Blur, Pulp, Hole, Nirvana, Arcade Fire, The Cure, Modest Mouse, Hole, Deftones, Green Day, The Offspring, Goldfinches.
I enjoy satire and comedy. Loved Stranger Things. I watch a lot of rot! Tattoo Fixers, Supervet, Country file.

I'm glad you like the yarn...I held it for so long because I knew I'd be in the UK and the postage rates would be so much less (that's also why I sent three--my saving money on postage meant more yarn for you--yippee!!! :-)
Hi--Just wanted to let you know I sent off your package today for the Yarn Ball Swap. Enjoy!
Hi, I saw that you sent my yarn&choc. swap package on the 9th. I just got back from Africa and have not at this time received it. I wasn't sure how long it takes to get mail to the states, so I was just checking in. Angela
