I just moved to Canada to study library and archival science. Before this, I worked at the library in Portland, and before that I worked at a women's health organization in Seattle, and before that I studied anthropology and Italian in Los Angeles, Florence, and Milan. Before that, I was a kiddo in Portland, where I sometimes skipped class to go read books in Powells.
I make a zine about science called Biophile and a cookzine called Carnage.
Making zines, collages, and other paper things, sewing when I have the patience. I want to learn to do needlepoint, but I haven't gotten there yet.
The Phantom Tollbooth, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, Bread and Jam for Frances, The Interpretation of Cultures. I'm reading an autobiography of Tom McCall, and I just checked Atonement out.
I like bright colors. These days, I wear a lot of dark orange. I seem to have lost my lime green wool sweater.
Old things aren't inherently better than new things, but I do appreciate well-made objects.
I enjoy rough textures: quinoa, peeling paint, thick knits.
Maps, socks, buttons, Oregoniana.
