Hey! I'm Jess, in my 20s and a primary school teacher in Melbourne, Australia. I've only recently found out about the brilliant world of mail/art swaps, and am just starting out here. Really excited to get started! I've always been pretty crafty, and absolutely love stationery, am obsessed with buying beautiful notebooks and making envelopes from magazines. I'm also a bit of a quilter, with a couple of big pieces under my belt and a growing stash of beautiful fabrics (though I should make more time to actually use it).
I do love a good book and I do tend to lean towards an interesting non-fiction or autobiography. Having said that I do put in some time in the world of fiction too (a few classics, a few series - GoT most recently).
I also have design books littered throughout my place, from graphic design to interiors- I am powerless to resist them.
Magazines are another weakness- Anthology, Frankie (Australian), ELLE decoration, and I recently found a copy of FLOW (a paper lover's magazine!).
As mentioned above, I do enjoy papercraft, collage, modern quilting and sewing. I've recently given stamp-carving a go, which has been great fun, and it doesn't take much for me to be swept up in the latest and greatest in the craft world.
As far as postcards go, I don't have too many preferences! I like photography, black and white, landscapes, cities, art and typography. I'm more than happy to receive handmade, hand drawn or collaged cards too.
I suppose I'm not a huge fan of humour/joke cards, ad cards or anything too cutesy like cartoons, animals or children.
I really love handmade envelopes. I make mine out of old magazines and books, and love to receive mail in handmade envelopes too. I don't really collect stickers or anything- but I love stamps, modern letter writing sets and scrapbooking cardstock.
POSTAGE TIME I've found it can sometimes take a little while for items posted from here in Australia to arrive at their destination, particularly in parts of Europe. I always post before the deadlines in a swap, it's just that sometimes a little extra patience may be needed. If you are ever worried that some terrible fate has befallen a package I've sent (because it hasn't arrived as expected) please let me know! Thanks.
If you add tea to a package, I enjoy chai teas and herbal/fruit teas. I enjoy milk and white chocolate. I would prefer socks or a handkerchief over jewellery or scarves. Thanks!
