Favorite Crafts

Paper crafting would have to be my first love. I started with stamping, then to scrapbooking, now to papercrafting and altering items. I just can't get enuf of that. I love to make "junk" into treasures.

There is never enuf paper or stickers or embelli's to do what I want to do. I have a habit of saving some of those I really like for that "perfect" project - I really need to learn to use them! LOL

For stamps, I prefer the clear ones. I had hundreds of $$ in the woodys, but had such a hard time "placing" them. Whoever the genius was to create the clear, acrylic ones - I will love forever - for many reasons. I use them for titles and embellishing cards, pages, and whatever else I can get my hands on.

Brads, chipboard, ribbon, flowers, and grunge patterns are currently my favorite items for altering. However, there are so many items in my drawers, I am not sure this is a fair statement.

I have also recently taken up Art Journaling, thanks to one of my co-workers (who also tipped me off to Swap-Bot). I am slowly learning what this is all about. I was thinking it had to be like a journal/diary, when it really is just pictoral renditions of the ramblings in my noggin. I love to find ideas on the internet of Art Journaling - this helps my creative process grows - - I have forgotten what it means to doodle and just let your imagination go.

I am trying to learn how to take beautiful pictures. I gues that would start by reading the instruction manual on my camara to see what all it can do, huh? Anyway, I am a shutterbug and love the invention of digital. The fact that I can keep all of those pictures and only print the ones I really want.

I have my daughters set up to scrapbook and art journal with me. We share my craft room with all of our supplies. This is a great time for us to spend together on rainy days.

In the past, I have done cross-stitch. This was a great way to waste time and not even realize how fast time was going by. I love to watch the picture take shape. I still have all the supplies, but have not done this craft in YEARS!

Some crafts I am trying to learn are sewing and fancy cake making. I have a few things to get started on these, but need to do more research and allow more time for these.

About Me

I am a wife of 15 years to the best hubby in the world, mommy to two wonderful daughters ages 9 & 7, friend, peer, dog owner, cat lover, and crafting maniac.

I try to start each day with a positive outlook, cuz if I am having a bad day, it shoudn't be anyone elses problem.

I work part time at our local medical facility in a clerical position on the overnight shift. I chose this shift because it allows me to be available for my kids, their activities and school events - and of course, during the school year, lots o time for crafting ;o)

I am very allergic to Cigarette Smoke and non-allergy friendly dogs. Please consider this when sending me goodies. THANKS!

Favorite Music

I like music from many genres. Pop culture, 80's, country, and classical. A definate no could be jazz and opera.

Some of my favorite groups/singers would be: Pink, Beyonce, The Fray, Nickleback, Black Eyed Peas, All American Rejects, Natasha Bedingfield, Green Day, Linkin Park, Norah Jones, Gwenn Stephani, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Elton John, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, Scorpions, Dokken, Europe, Ratt, Cinderella, Duran Duran (LOVE ANYTHING 80's), Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Reba, Faith Hill, Sugarland, Garth Brooks, and Toby Keith.

If I am with my girls, Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana, and Taylor Swift are the sounds that fill our vehicle. ;o)

Favorite Books

The books I enjoy are ones that take you to another place and include a little smut, friendship, life's lessons, and a twist you so did not expect. I am not a fan of Jodi Picult or Danielle Steele, nor have I ever read a murder mystery (not sure why exactly ??)

Favorite authors include: Barbara Delinsky, Elin Hildebrand, Kristin Hannah, and Jane Green.

I do own the Harry Potter series for reading someday. The Twilight series also graces my shelves, except for Eclipse. I prefer the new style soft cover, you know, the size of a hard cover one? Those are my favorite.

I have a Kindle and LOVE it. It is so much fun and convenient. However, I do have many books that fill my shelves - What is a home without books??? When I start a collection, I like to have them all. Therefore, misc fun books are what is read on my Kindle.

Scrapbooking/cards/art journal magazines and Idea books. Paper Crafting is one of my favorites, along with Scrapbooks, etc.

Magazines: Country Sampler, Weight Watchers, Better Homes and Gardens, Country Living and People Year Book.

Cook books: I prefer those that have simple recipies with everyday ingredients I can pronounce AND know where to find in the market. It is also helpful if they are on the healthy side. I guess, really, my favorite type of cook book are those from the Church or school with tried and true recipies.

Favorite Movies

I prefer Romantic comedy or comedy movies. Those such as The Proposal, It's Complicated, New In Town, What Women Want, Bride Wars, Miss Congeniality, 27 Dresses, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and The Redneck Comedy Tour.

Some really good action and dramamovies: Gran Torino, Death Race, Pirates of the Carribean, The Dark Knight, and Fast & Furious.

With young girls in the house, we also "enjoy" watching Strawberry Shortcake, Barbie, High School Musical Trilogy, Hannah Montana, Freaky Friday, The Parent Trap, Game Plan, Catch that kid and other Disney "live" people movies.

For me, my "classics" would be: Grease, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club.

Favorite Television

I don't really get to watch a lot of prime-time television as I work the overnight shift and am sleeping or am doing things with our kids.

I try to get the local news and world news in each day.

If I had to pick some favorites on primetime, they would be: CSI: NY, The Mentalist, Grey's Anatomy, Life Unexpected, Two and a half men, Law & Order SVU & Criminal Intent, Dateline, 48 Hr Mystery, American Idol when they are to the last few, The Bachelor (when there are just a few left), Dancing with the Stars and Biggest Loser. ( my kids love biggest loser)

Some old shows I really miss are: According to Jim, Yes Dear, Home Improvement, King of Queens, Friends, Boy Meets World, Fraiser, and Chicago Hope.

Back when we had "full" cable, I enjoyed watching TLC, HGTV and TNT. There is always something good on those channels.

I do enjoy some sports on TV - - Football, NASCAR, High School Basketball Finals, and the OLYMPICS! Every once in a while, I am lucky enuf to catch Ice Skating or Cheerleading Championships too. Ok, maybe those aren't really sports, but I will call them that since they don't really fit any other category ;o)

My Favorite Colors

Like: Black, white, pink, periwinkle purple, pastels in general and Lime Green (my current favorite color).

Dislike: Primary colors, dull colors (80's mauve, green, blue type) and just brown with nothing else.

Scents

Like: Apple Cinnamon, Pumpkin Pie spice, clean linen or cotton, and lilacs for the short time they are around.

Dislike: Berry (unless fused with cinnamon or spice), "original" vanilla, flowery scents, .

Comment: Thank you so much, Laurie! I love the journals. I was reluctant to participate in this swap as the last journal swap I was in I never received anything. You have restored my confidence!
