I am a sociology master's student. I recieved my bachelors in anthropology and sociology and am about to apply for Ph.D. programs in sociology this fall. I love art, reading, hiking, music (of pretty much any genre EXCEPT screamo), traveling, and more.
I am asexual, but love romance. I currently have two cats but have grown up with dogs. My love of my life dog Holly had to be put down this last fall as she was 16 years old, hurting, confused, deaf, and blind. I had her since I was 6. She was a black and tan doxie, so they are the most beautiful babies in the world to me.
I study music in sociology. Music is all over the world in society and exists in many different forms. I currently study Korean rap music and the ways that they talk about their own societal pressures (much different than mainstream American rap). I am a strong human and animal rights believer and think it is always important to consider the factors that a person has grown up with before judging them.
I love classical like Debussy or Rachmaninoff, rap and hip hop like Beenzino, BTS, Verbal Jint, etc. I also love musicals, opera, symphonies, pop, Korean pop, jazz, big band and swing, etc. Honestly, I only don't like music that is blatantly sexist and derogatory towards women such as a fair amount of country music and some gangsta and pop rap music. Note that I point out specific genres with rap, because there is also very enlightened and conscious rap.
The Looking Glass Wars, Leviathan Series, anything Jane Austen, the Tao of Pooh and the Te of Piglet, Harry Potter, A Great and Terrible Beauty, and more. I honestly can't even make a list. I own over 300 books and picking would be very difficult.
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, Memoirs of a Geisha, Harry Potter, The Illusionist, Atonement, Fight Club, The Painted Veil, Dope, and more. I love movies and that makes it hard to pick. The only I don't like are standard gross comedy ones like The Hangover.
I do not watch much TV anymore as I spend all of my time doing research during the week, but I do love Korean Dramas when I can find the time to watch them. This would include shows like Secret Love Affair, It's Okay It's Love, Sungkyungkwan Scandal, and more.
I draw, paint (acrylic and watercolor), make ATCs, print make, and like messing around with flowers.
I like things that are steampunk, lacey, flowery (THINK VICTORIAN FLOWERS NOT 60's and 70's FLOWER POWER), pink, red, purple, green, white, buttons, historical and/or antique looking things. Anything to do with classical books or older ideas.
I LOVE traveling and have been to Germany and England for several months at a time. I hope to travel more in the future, but I know that is costly. I have traveled a fair amount in the United States but have never been to the North East.
The color orange, just about anything to do with the 60s or 70s (with the exception of The Beatles), Items that smell like anything other than their original scent, the smell of cigarrettes, and construction paper. I also don't like religious stuff. Religious imagery can be beautiful, but I am less interested in it than I am in just the feeling of spiritual energy.
