My name is Radana and I live in Prague. I studied media communication and I am a marketer by profession.
I am interested in many topics, but I guess my real life-long passion are animals. Animals are people, too! I feel sorry when they are mistreated because they are so innocent. I am always at awe when learning about abilities of various species. And the same goes for the flora. In case you have never heard about the tardigrade, look it up. I promise you’ll be amazed. Our dear Mother Nature is the most fascinating in this world and beyond. I am fascinated by the vastness of the universe, too. Although I have already travelled to Mars (on a microchip, haha) and I like to read about space exploration missions, I think we should focus on saving the jewel we already have – the planet Earth, rather than “aiming for the stars”. As regards more to the ground topics, I like to watch forensic crime documentaries and documentaries in general. I love so many other things and admire so many people that it is not possible to list them here. I have never been fan of “what is your favorite xx” questions because there are too many beautiful and amazing things, animals, plants and people out there and I just cannot limit my selection to a few.
My favorite hobby is creating my own maxicards (cartes maximum). Also, I collect commemorative postmarks, topical postcards and dolls. I love beautiful stamps. The thing that I love about maxicards is that they combine the three elements (card, stamp, postmark). And the best thing is when I can use a card that someone sent to me to make a maxicard. Then it’s a real jewel. What I like about philately and maxicards is also the fact that as a by-product I learn about various subjects. I have a few amazing penpals which I have found through Postcrossing with whom I swap postcards and maxicards. I would like to learn how to sew and crochet, at least at a basic level.
In my profile picture you can see Kyra, my beloved dog and my astral sister, who sadly passed away on 28 September, 2020. I am still very sad and I miss her very much. We were together for 10 years.
Below you can see a list of topics I love in postcards the most.
Best wishes to you and “stay negative” 😊
Beautiful postal stamps, commemorative postmarks (= special / commemorative postal cancellations) and cartes maximum (also know as "maxicards" are much appreciated!
I always prefer hand cancellations to machine cancellations. If you can hand your postcard for me to a postal clerk for hand cancellation, rather than dropping it in a postal box, it'll be highly appreciated. Most of my cards I sent I have hand-cancelled at the main Prague post office, often times with commemorative postmarks ;-)
I love beautiful stamps and if you use stamps featuring the topics I listed above I will be very happy!
If you like using washi tapes or stickers, I will not say "no" to it :-)
Some of the most fascinating countries and places for me are Japan, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Russia (esp. Siberia), Alaska, California, New Zealand, Australia, Tasmania, New York City, islands around the world with cooler climate such Greenland, Falklands, Aland... But the world is full of fascinating places (Madagascar and many others...)
"We torture and kill two billion sentient living beings every week. 10,000 entire species are wiped out every year because of the actions of one, and we are now facing the sixth mass extinction in cosmological history. If any other organism did this, a biologist would consider them a virus." Philip Wollen
"Animals are angels in furs." Dr. Erazim Kohák
