I'm a 22 year old lady nerd. I just graduated from college, receiving a Master's in social work. Now I need to get a job, how scary! I'm a ferret mama, and a turtle mama, but I hope to be a pug mama some day.
Electro-pop, pop-punk, ska, indie, bluegrass, folk, metal, classic rock, rockabilly, old school country, underground hip hop. Aaaand probably lots more. Listening to the radio is usually a painful experience for me. I really don't go for mainstream pop and the travesty that is mainstream hip hop. At the same time, I'm no elitist and I try not to judge others' musical choices & whatever else brings them joy :)
Some favorite bands, off the top of my head: The Weakerthans, Metric, Alkaline Trio, Reverend Peyton's big band, Chromeo, Daft Punk, Wanda Jackson, Iron Horse, Great Lake Swimmers, Iron Maiden, Atmosphere, mc chris (& other nerdcore rappers), the Misfits...
There are so many movies I enjoy!
Once Upon A Time in the West, His Girl Friday, Ball of Fire, Bridesmaids, Ghost Busters, Back to the Future, Inception, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Kill Bill, Inglorious Basterds, Get Low, Most Wes Anderson things, oh man I could go on and on.
I watch LOADS of movies, it is my favorite way to relax. I usually trust rottentomatoes' ratings and generally try to avoid vapid blockbusters that feature either dull, unrealistic romances that make you want to pull your hair out or meathead-centric explosion fests/male dominated action films.
The Big Bang Theory, Mad Men, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, 30 Rock, Six Feet Under, Metalocalypse, Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job, United States of Tara, Weeds, The Big C, BBC miniseries featuring Jane Austen Novels.
I LOVE Jane Austen & read and reread her work religiously. I am also a Harry Potter nerd and even have a deathly hallows symbol tattoed on me.
