About Me

Allo! I'm a filmmaker wannabe-former film school and art school grad-periodic slacker-perpetual nocturnal creature-daydreamer-semi-moderate idealist.

And I'm from the tropical, cosmopolitan island city, Singapore in South East Asia. It's a multi-cultural and racial society where the East and West meets and the old and new converge. I speak English, Chinese/Mandarin and Cantonese. (I learnt some Elementary Japanese but I've forgotten most of it!)

I'm into films (indie/horror/sci-fi/documentaries/arthouse/experimental/Asian), music (indie/postrock), theatre, Japanese anime, Manga, toy photography (Lomo/Holga/Polaroids), gigs, installation art, graffiti, poetry, fanzines, mail art, stencil art, graphic T-shirts, paranormal, graphic design, web design, travelling, cats, Tibetan Buddhism, Graphic Novels, collecting toys, all things Gnome/Matryoshka/Cats/Rabbits/Owls/Teddy Bears/Domokun/Cheburaska/Totoro/Hello Kitty/Sakura/vampires/zombies/robots/vintage, quirky cake toppers, quirky/cutesy/kawaii stuff, ferris wheel, flea markets & DIY terrariums.

Places I've been to: Canada (Seattle, Vancouver), US (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Phoenix, San Diego, New York City, Brooklyn, Long Island, New Jersey, Boston, Salem, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Niagara Falls) , Mexico (Tijuana), Hawaii (Honolulu), Japan (Fukuoka, Nagasaki, Kagoshima, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Tokyo), Hong Kong, Taiwan (Taipei), Thailand (Bangkok), Australia (Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane), France (Paris), UK (London, Bristol)

I suppose my motto in life is to try to live with as little regrets as possible.

It'd be great to meet like-minded individuals to swap interesting stuff with on this site!

Comment: I LOVE the card you sent! Not only is it gorgeous, but of course I love the lyrics you chose as well. I just re-listened to that album so this was a fabulous treat...if we ever meet again in a swap feel free to send me more of your art work :)
Response: ..it's such a relief to hear that, thanks! :D i was a tad anxious in creating this card as i'd the plan but the execution proved to be trickier than i thought. but it's impossible to listen to Radiohead and not feel inspired to create something. the trial-an-error really mirrored the song in that sometimes when striving for order/normalcy, internal chaos will ensure despite the best laid plans. so, when do we stop listening to our heads but to our hearts just for once?

Comment: Wow! Thanks for your comment and for even looking thru my flickr photos & etsy store! :) I totally understand about just buying fabric because it's pretty or cool. I've developed a 'stash' of fabric that I just bought because I liked it and know I probably won't end up ever using it for anything, lol. It was great to meet you! :)
Response: ..haha, yes, the impulse to buy pretty fabric & keep them is quite scary! but i stopped right in my tracks when my friend asked me, "So, what are you going to do with it?" that's when I recall my lack of talent in the sewing etc.. department.

Comment: I love that card so much!!! That was my favorite movie for a long time - I need to add it to my list. I love the book also. Similar, but not the same. I highly recommend!
Response: ..i'm really glad you liked it! :D i was a bit worried that you might not fancy it but it all just fell into place (for me) as I made the card. yes, i'll pick up the book soon. "Blade Runner" & "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" has never ceased to fascinate me even till this day, :)

Amineko are fun to make! If you can do single crochet, and crochet in the round.. you can do it. If you check the Crochet Pattern Central website (tons of legally free patterns for everything crochet), there's a lot of free ones.. maybe can find a smaller amigurumi that won't take as long too :) Easy and quicker = feeling successful hehehe

Hi! I'm one of your partners for the Read and Comment swap. Your profile was so interesting to go through! I've never been to Asia (only certain places in Latin America) but Singapore is definitely on my list of places I want to visit. I'm SO impressed that you're multi-lingual. I'm trying so hard to learn spanish and its more difficult than I thought it would be, so Im amazed when anyone can speak two or more languages haha. Your choices in entertainment are fabulous. I have to say I love Arrested Development (it immediately jumped out at me) and its so awesome that you've got a whole group of Cartoon Network Cartoons mixed in there. I fully agree with making sure you have no regrets in life. So many people get caught up in silly things and don't take the opportunities and chances they're given and end up missing out on so much. I'm never going to be one of those people and it doesn't seem like you will be either :) I really really enjoyed reading your profile! I hope you're having a fabulous day!

Hey there! Stoppin by for the 'Read Profile and Leave A Comment Swap' What's it like in Singapore? That is on our list of places we need to go, but it wont be for a very long time. Looks like you travel alot. My boyfriend and I have been traveling quite a bit lately. Our favorite place so far is San Diego, what were your thought of that city. We loved it! I would actually like to live there someday. Im not much of a reader so I am not familiar with your likes in the field sorry. So do you like looking at graffiti or do you actually create it. When I get a house I want to make one wall in our entertainment room graffiti style art, I think its awesome! I love your taste in music, we have alot in common there. I'd be happy walking front art gallery to art gallery listening to music on my pod! Well I hope you have a great day and remember to keep smiling! -keribearsmiles (Keri)
