Description:

Wow, in our small group we have quite a lot of health issues. I've been dealing with a fatigue flair-up (arthritis) that has had me flat in bed all week, and before that I've had a flu bug for a couple weeks (who knew you could get the flu in summer!)

One gal hurt her wrist, And another gal hurt her shoulder. I think considering all this I'm going to add more time to our swap. I know it's not the fairest thing for those who have already swapped, but I think we all need more time.

I'm sorry for everyone who has to wait longer, but I think these things warrant making the send by date longer. These are all real issues that happen in life sometimes, it wouldn't be fair to penalize them for the unexpected health issues.

I love aprons, don't you? They're easy to sew and they save your clothes while you do your housekeeping and cooking.

I've participated in a few apron swaps and thought I'd love to host one myself.

For this swap you will have one partner and make them one apron.

Since this is a summer time swap I think a summery theme would be great. Some ideas are BBQ's, beach, bright suns, you get the idea, you pick -- just so long as it's summery.

Because making ties for a full apron (an apron with a bib) is fairly easy this swap is for full aprons, I'm short so half aprons aren't too practical... I guess that's one other reason.

I hope everyone who has a blog can take a second to add this swaps pic to their blogs. It'd be really fun to have a great number of people who all love aprons join and make this a great swap.

Now for the more technical rules.

No no-sends, period. No newbies, this swap has LOADS of time for you to get some ratings between now and when the swap is paired up. No one under 4.5, if you have any recent ratings of 1 or 3 please PM me to let me know what is going on there.

Most of all enjoy this swap, sew something you're torn to send away, or something you have to make for yourself as well. That's a good sign that it's good enough for a swap.

Happy Swapping!

P.S. The send by date will be my 8th wedding anniversary!

EDIT - I took off the clarification of know your partners preferences, I guess there has been some confusion about if that was referring to the aprons or the swap... I more meant for it to be in reference for how you make the swap, what extras you might think of throwing in and so on, but that isn't even required.

I also made the length of time between the sign up and send by date. I changed it from a week and a half to a month. That's pretty generous for an apron swap as they can get banged out in an evening, but a couple people wrote me saying they wanted longer time, so I try to keep people happy. I think this will still leave plenty of time for everyone who wants to participate in this swap to find it as we haven't even hit spring yet.

Any other concerns or questions just feel free to ask. You can either leave a comment here, or drop me a PM (private message.)

Please read this regarding postage.

What a shame it cant be international.... Ive loved doing the reversible apron swap (had to make one for me too, LOL!)and would love to do another. It wasnt too expensive, aprons dont weigh very heavy ;) Let me know if you can change it or if you do another time :)

TerryF 01/30/2008 #

I was excited to sign up until I saw this: "For hearts it'd be nice if you made a matching pot-holder, or sent some other kitchen things along with it." Sorry, but you cannot dictate to people what a heart is worth to them. If you would consider removing this statement, I would gladly join!

myrrhmaid 01/30/2008 #

Thanks for the invite CF! Our anniversary is the 11th (#9) DD b-day is June 8th. May/June get very busy for us! I wish it was sooner! I love aprons! Have fun everybody!

thefinderofthings 01/30/2008 #

If it's your swap why can't you dictate how to get a heart? Seems fair to me. I love making aprons and can't wait to get some ideas!

nancyflamingo 01/30/2008 #

Hi - can you clarify what a full apron is? I think it's a bib apron, but I want to make sure before I sign up. Thanks!

CelestialFreak 01/30/2008 #

hoppyloo; I think you're twisting my arm... Gimme a day to think about changing my mind, I do know these are super light to send, I just don't want to get in trouble with my hubby, but I did set it a ways off so I can just plan to save up... I probably will change my mind to let you in... OK, I'm doing it. :-) Please JOIN!

Terry F; I've seen many swaps give suggestions of extras, but per your request I'll remove, I'd love to have everyone who wants to participate be happy.

Nancyflaingo; great question, yes I mean bib.

CelestialFreak 01/30/2008 #

I do still think that is someone sends other kitchen related things it's worth a heart. I suppose that's my thinking though... I never meant it to seem like a requirement to earn a heart or anything like that, just some creative suggestions.

TerryF 01/31/2008 #

Thank you CF!

hoppyloo 01/31/2008 #

Thank you so much for making it international! Cant wait :)

CelestialFreak 02/ 5/2008 #

This is looking like a great list of swappers so far! Be sure, those of you with blogs, to post the photo link for this swap on your blogs so others can see this swap and decide to play too! I'd love for all who want to join to see it as fun and find it and yeah, just spread the word, lets make this a big fun swap!

catsmeow 02/ 6/2008 #

I love making aprons they're a quick to make,in a hurry gift, so I seem to make lots! Can't wait to get started, as a matter of fact I'm making 2 right now!

=^..^=

CelestialFreak 02/11/2008 #

To whoever my partner ends up being... I'm a bigger gal, so I'll need the bib a little wider, and the ties a little longer. I'm a size 24.

Marionsmom 02/11/2008 #

I am really excited about this swap!!!

To my partner:

PLEASE keep in mind that I am a big (around LOL) girl!!!

NanaDeb 02/12/2008 #

I like making aprons too! Mainly as I also am big and I like things that fit:D

CrochetCupcake 02/16/2008 #

I'm so excited to join this swap! I'm also hosting an apron swap -- Flirty Apron and Accessory Swap. Consider yourself invited!! =) -Shawnee

Caam 02/22/2008 #

Hey there! The sheer fact that I am doing this will make me get up and get that machine serviced and take my friend up on her offer for a tutorial. I think I have some lovely fabric in mind as well!

For my partner: I, too am a little fluffy around the middle!

MAT 02/23/2008 #

I am also on the fluffy side. Trying to lose some weight, but it is near impossible when you are a junk food junkie,HAHA.

CelestialFreak 02/25/2008 #

I've started an apron lovers group! All are welcome, please send a join request.

yarnigras 03/ 3/2008 #

Hey there... I'm x small to small so whoever gets me, please split ties for me...I'm long legged but short waisted. Bibs usually end up swallowing me....but I couldn't resist joining. I put 'apron swap' in my profile preferences to help out!

I'll post the pic/link a bit closer to time. I have 'Flirty' up right now. As we get closer, I'll change it out.

Beelicious 03/ 4/2008 #

Hi Celestial!

I just had to Join your swap!! Can't wait to get started!

Hugs BEE

Frankenpug 03/26/2008 #

I would love to join, but I am not yet rated:(...I am in the Flirty Swap now...hopefully I will rack up enough points by May. If all goes well I will be participating.

deborahthecraft 04/ 2/2008 #

Maybe I'll not be a newbie by the time the sign-up period is closing.I'd never heard of swapbot can you imagine?! I LOVE aprons!

MrsIncognito 04/ 2/2008 #

I am so excited for this swap!! I'm not a small gal.. hopefully I'm on the way down now that my baby is born!

ladymarcia 04/ 8/2008 #

I've collected vintage aprons for years so I think it's time to make a few. I'm a little fluffy as well. Is that a requirment??? :-) except for yarnigras that is. Can't wait to get started.

petpainter 04/11/2008 #

I'd love to join this swap too! I am also a larger gal! I'd say size 16 anyway! Thanks!

yarnigras 04/16/2008 #

Frankenpug....your aprons ROCK....you'll have your points by then!

Rogue 04/17/2008 #

I've been signed up for a while, but I thought I'd post a little something. For whoever gets me as a swapee (asd in, whoever is sending to me) I have a fondness of aprons that are 1950s styled (I wear alot of full skirted dresses - 1950s style), and have long WIDE ties. Maybe I should make a section of my profile for Aprons?

momx33xmom 04/18/2008 #

I've been signed for awhile as well, but thought it a good idea to say that I'm a "fluffy" gal myself, and would prefer ties at the neck, rather than a loop, so that I can adjust for the "girls"! Thanks-this is going to be fun!!! Anna

yarnigras 04/24/2008 #

okay! the link is on my blog!

atcdesigner 04/26/2008 #

I'm supposed to be sewing a baby quilt, but this sounds much more fun! Count me on the fluffy side of fluffy. Vee

CupcakeKat 05/ 3/2008 #

I just found all kids of great fabrics today that are perfect for summer aprons. Since partners have not been assigned I had to buy them all. Hows that for an excuse for a fabric binge!!!

simplysarah 05/ 7/2008 #

for whomever it might concern.... i love half aprons, i know this swap is for full ones. ... but it would be great to get either...

Adolpha 05/ 9/2008 #

I see that us rubenesque gals are popular around this apron swap, huh? I will also need extra long ties. Thanks!

LindaRuthie 05/15/2008 #

Yeah! It's time to sew. My partner can check my apron size and preference on my profile. Anything fun/cute/pretty and summery will be great.

ManitoulinGirl 05/17/2008 #

Hi. I should have posted this sooner, but I should let my partner know that I am "vertically challenged". I'm only 5' tall and of medium build. In the stores, my size is about a size 8. In sewing patterns, I am about a size 14. I think I would prefer a full apron, but will be happy no matter what. I absolutely love vintage 40's style and retro looks, but again I am not picky.

Happy sewing!
