Description:

Hoping the coordinator of the other Halloween doesn't get angry with me but I would love to have a Halloween dotee for my door wreath. But, sending overseas gets a little costly for me so why not do just Canada and the USA. Do one dotee (for those who are unfamiliar with them just google dotee). Easy and very addictive so be ready for that. I have an autumn dotee on board so if you are in that do a Halloween with either a costumn on her or scarecrow or pumpkins You know what to do. One swapper only. Pls. make sure you are willing to do and send, no flakers please. Newbies are welcome but I need to see your profile and only 4.75. or above unless you let me know what the problem was as we all have them. Dotee dolls should be 4-6 inches, have a tail and a hanger. Have fun with it and lets see what you get in return. The date to sign up and then send gives you a month to do it. It won't take you that long but just in case you are a busy person, not retired like me. This will give you time to display it for Halloween.

Thanks so much for hosting this swap for the US and Canada. I have the same issue with paying for postage sometimes.

Do these have to be the standard dotee shape, can we play around with it a bit? I have an idea I'm really attached to, but I don't want to do the wrong thing and find someone disappointed.

TerryF 07/10/2008 #

I have done dotees in all different shapes and have not recived a complaint yet. It's fun to experiment as long as you keep to the basic dimensions, with a tail and hanger. I am not speaking for our host, but I suspect trhis will be ok here too..

ladydy5 07/13/2008 #

As host I would like the dotees not to have arms or legs as I have seen done. True dotees are with a tail and a hanger. Basic dimensions as seen on websites you can google. But if you have some idea, no one would be dissappointed, as we all love crafty ideas.

TerryF does some of the cutest Dotees!!!! I would not be offended by any type you make! I love to see all the crafty things people come up with!!

TerryF 07/21/2008 #

I am also open to whatever my partner would like to try, as long as the general size as well as a hanger and tail are there.

majicjessnrach likes to make her DD without hangers - it has become her trademark - they are so beautiful and it is easy to add a hanger if I want one.

However, this is ladydy5's swap and I am quite happy to follow whatever rules she wishes to make!.

Oops, how rude of me - thx for the compliment Trysha!

I just finished my Halloween dotee for the swap. October 1st is going to seem like a year from now!

I finished mine too. As coordinator and in respect for the lady who started the Dotee thing I am asking that they have hangers (a piece of ribbon will do)and a tail. No arms as that is not a True Dotee Doll. But as I said before, if there is one or more of you that want to do it your own way by all means Do It.. Do you want me to edit the time of sending?

MirandaMopar 08/ 7/2008 #

Ok. I did some research to try to prevent asking a "dumb" question. I'm not familiar with tails. Is it just a tail or does it have a purpose? Are they basically like the hanger?? Sorry. I've made a few handmade dolls, but I've never made a Dotee, yet. ;) Thanks for your time. I very much dislike being new. Well, I've been around here for a year, but I'm just now thinking of gettnig back into the swaps. Thanks, again!

Miranda...The tails that I have seen have been made by beading them...They look great dangling down. You can also find boot and shoe charms that some hang from the bottom of their dolls.

Thank you, quiltaholic. I've joined and know it will be a blast!

I know I'm a newbie, but I'm very excited about this swap and am excited to make one, so I assure you all I am NOT a flaker. In the meantime, I'll be joining some quick swaps to show I'm reliable. Thanks for making this swap. It looks like it will be fun :)
